"TLDR: Food poisoning, insects, and nothing above 2 stars by any means. This was one of the worst “all-inclusive” experiences we’ve ever had. Staff were snarky, sarcastic, and quick to charge extra for everything - including mini-fridge drinks. There’s only one small pool and no hot tub unless you pay hundreds for a “spa package.” Nothing like any other Hyatt property we’ve stayed at worldwide. It honestly should not carry the brand name. English proficiency was extremely limited. When we called housekeeping for help adjusting the room temperature while I had fever and chills after consuming their drinks, they laughed and offered no assistance. The lack of basic support, even something as simple as vomit bags, was shocking. The drinks at the pool bar (piña colada, lemonade, “Riviera Maya”) triggered three days of nonstop vomiting, fever, chills, and nausea. They tasted artificial -like sugar, dye, and unclean water. The buffet was unhygienic and low quality. Chocolate milk separated into powder and tinted water. Bread tasted processed and artificial. Vegetarian labels were inaccurate, and we were even served shrimp after asking multiple times. Coffee tasted like cardboard. Restaurants weren’t open for breakfast or lunch, and dinner waits ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Food was undercooked (burgers, pakoras), bland or overly salty. The lobby and washrooms had overpowering artificial nauseating scents. Rooms were outdated and dirty ants were on my toothbrush."

"Clean room and facilities, well kept. Some staff could be friendlier, and the hotel could have more activities for guests. The beach on the property was very nice. Shampoo was not good quality, and washcloths were unfortunately not provided."

"Staff was all so friendly and attentive. Buffet food was good, pools were a little chilly but refreshing. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and pool side fun. We felt very safe here "

"I had such a wonderful solo getaway at Riu Palace Las Americas. It’s such a fun place whether you want to chill by the pool or relax on the beach. The buffet was super tasty, and as a dairy-free pescatarian, I felt like I had plenty of options, which I really appreciated. The staff was also incredibly kind. Since I was staying by myself, I felt very safe — the staff even called my room every night to make sure everything was okay. That meant a lot. It was truly the perfect low-budget getaway with a high relaxation payoff. I especially loved spending my days at the beach, and Isai provided the best service — he was running around in the heat and always there when I needed a piña colada! The only thing I’ll mention is that guests wake up early to reserve beach chairs with towels. I was fine since I was by myself and got to the beach around 8 AM, but if you’re coming with others and want a prime beach spot, they can be harder to get. There were a few towel-reserved spots next to me where people didn’t show up until noon (and I was there at 7/8). I understand there’s not much the staff can do about that, but it was a little surprising to see. Other than that, there were no hiccups at all — it was a great stay. Thank you to the Riu team for such a relaxing and enjoyable trip!"

"The Spa experience was wonderful along with the many pools and access to the beach. It is a beautiful property. Dinner at Sea and Stones was delicious! The buffet was also amazing with many options and something for everyone. My room was in building D with a balcony and ocean and pool view. Beautiful room. I was most impressed with the incredible Hospitality from everyone that worked there. "
