Southern Kyoto 4 Stars Hotels

The selling point of this property is the sauna and outdoor baths. We didn’t end up using the sauna (it was 90 degrees outside) so we simply enjoyed the two baths. It was nice to do a load of laundry in the middle of our trip and while we only made tea, the kitchen was convenient and useful for folks staying longer. It’s a short walk to the station and close to many things. The house is very charming and would be perfect for a family.

This is a stylish hotel, clean and convenient, with good food. My room had no desk, so it is not convenient for business.

We enjoyed our stay very much!

This hotel was the best out of the hotels we stayed at on our two week trip (3 hotels total). If you’re looking for a great hotel in Kyoto it’s this hotel. Room was clean and beautiful. Bed was excellent (all other beds we slept on were hard and bad). Bathroom was great! Close to the subway and bus stop (use the bus - super easy, fast and clean). Next door to convenience store (very helpful). Blocks from Kyoto station (also very helpful). One block from a beautiful shrine. Coin-op laundromat...

Everything was great here! It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, calming, and peaceful. The house was stalked with all the amenities and the staff was amazing. It was so worth it!

I had a great stay at THE GATE Hotel in Kyoto! The property is modern, clean, and well-maintained. One of the highlights is definitely the top floor, where the reception and bar are located—it offers a stunning panoramic view of the city, especially at sunset. The location is super convenient, just a short walk from the train station and close to several local attractions, which made it easy to explore Kyoto. Overall, a comfortable and stylish place to stay. I’d definitely come back!

Amazing value, felt very luxurious and everything was super clean and thoughtful to the smallest details. The onsen was clean, they provided a lovely welcome drink, free snacks, and a great gym. Decent location. Thanks for the stay and will be back!

Staying at this hotel was definitely a highlight of our trip. The location is unbeatable—right across from Kyoto Station, but as soon as you step inside, it's like entering another world. It's so peaceful that you'd never guess you were just steps from the hustle and bustle of the station. The rooms were sleek, comfortable, and had a modern vibe. The bathroom was fantastic too—really added to the whole luxurious feel. The staff were incredibly friendly. And get this, they even had a robot...

The hotel is very vice, with several options for eating, shopping and other activities.

The hotel itself is not exactly right near much….but you walk 10 minutes and suddenly you are near everything: Kyoto Station, shopping, restaurants, bars. We liked that….the serenity of the hotel and the immediate area, but quick to everything you could want. The hotel itself is small, but very modern and well maintained. The room was perfect for us 5. Plenty of room, a mini kitchen setup, very comfortable. Also, because Kyoto bus transportation is so solid, and there is a bus stop 1 minute...

My son and I took a trip to Japan and loved the experience. This Ryokan was one of the highlights of our trip. It is a very unique stay and you should plan your evening around it if you choose to stay. This is not like a traditional hotel, you are cared for individually. Yuma was our room attendant and was very sweet. Dinner and breakfast were amazing and she did a great job of explaining what everything was. Super cool experience. I hope Yuma is able to visit NASA one day as she said she loves...

Excellent staff and reasonable breakfast. Nice to have a washer in the unit also.

We are family of 4 (2 adults and 2 11 yrs old). We stayed here for 3 nights. This place met all our expectations. Staffs were super helpful and friendly. We arrived early and our room was not available. They held our luggage for us and moved it in our room when room became available. We loved our room. Room is spacious, clean. Has mini fridge, microwave, dish ware, utensils, small stove top, 1 king bed, bunk bed, washer and dryer for laundry, dining table and toilet and shower is in...

We wanted to stay near Kyoto station for easy travel and the Doubletree by Hilton did not disappoint. It’s less than 5 minutes walk from the train station. The sleekness of the hotel is very modern. Our room was clean, the bed was super comfortable- soft to medium firmness, and we liked the separation of the toilet, shower/bath-tub, and vanity. There was construction next to the hotel, but it wasn’t noisy. The breakfast was my favorite; it was buffet style and they offered a variety of choices...

Very nice place. Very clean and modern and cozy. Shower and tub are great especially for hot days coming back from walks. Prices are good too. Walk 3 min or less to Kyoto Station. Will recommend to my friends and will stay here again
