"We had a great visit at the Riu Palace. We traveled with friends and took advantage of the free transportation to and from the airport. The hotel is just as beautiful as when we were there 18 months ago. Even though the beach was full of sargassum the pools had enough seating for everyone. Food was fantastic although I missed being able to have pastor tacos every day. Service is great and the piano player in the lobby is a special touch. Rooms are well appointed. I love how I don’t feel nickel and dimed at every corner at this resort. The staff feels generous, which is refreshing. Will return again! Tempted to try another Riu palace but I don’t think I can quit this one."

"Amazing stay! The whole property was stunning. It feels like walking through a tropical rain forest everyday. The beach area has lots of palm trees to cool in the hot sun. Our room was on the ground level close to the pool but we were not disturbed by the it at all and as well the night entertainment was muted out by the thick walls and patio doors. Water fountains in every hallway with purified water, no need to buy bottles, just bring our own reusable water bottles. Food was excellent, lots of selection for everyone. They have cooled purified water with ice buckets in the buffet, very safe to drink. Beer is on tap in the buffet area as well to self serve during lunch or dinner, hey even for breakfast too, if that’s your drink of choice. There are 4 à la carte restaurants on the property, they book fast so do it when you first arrive. We only had a chance to try the Mexican restaurant, wow, so good! Left the waiter nice tip. Overall it was an amazing experience for our first time in Mexico. Everyone works hard there, without bothering the guests, I tipped the wait staff in the buffet too! We even took a small walk off the resort, 5 min to a small plaza very close by, small shops with lots of Mexican souvenirs. There is Starbucks there too! Wifi connection was very good even on the beach! Kids were happy with that. If you love the sun and beach, this will be an amazing experience! Viva Mexico!"

"This was my family's second time staying at this resort, both times for one week. We enjoyed it so much the first time that our family wanted to stay here again. However, this will be our last. The experience was a good bit different. Multiple restaurants had changed with quality down, the main pool by the beach was sand filled and for half of the week cloudy green, and the beach was unusable due to the mass amounts of seaweed that they did not seem in a rush to clean up as we only saw one small crew working at it with no dent being made as you had to walk through 10+ feet of 1 foot deep seaweed to get to the water, which was then still all seaweed for 20+ feet out. The biggest change this time was the service. Our room had three different issues (phone, safe, sliding door), which took three days to fix and three different maintenance people. Bamboo Island (biggest pool) is where we spent a ton of time both times, and the bartenders this time around were not friendly, to say the least. A night and day experience from our stay two years ago. The pool bar looked like there had not been any maintenance done since we were there last time, and tiles were coming off all over the place. Lastly, they had two trams with three carts attached each last time, but only one this time, making getting around the resort a nightmare with wait times. Overall, a decent stay, fun shows at night, and good service in the restaurants, but it has gone downhill enough to not be considered again."
