"Es un hotel familiar, tiene un lado para adultos más calmado muy bonito. El staff muy chévere, solo que en el Market, como que las chicas que estaban haciendo el desayuno y sirviendo postre estaban un poco cansadas y tenían un actitud desagradable. Es importante tener personas con energía bonita en especial por la mañana y más si es relacionado con alimentos. El personal de la limpieza muy excelente, también las chicas del Spa me encantaron. El hotel tiene un equipo de ventas súper agresivo, muy bueno, al final de una charla que fuimos sentí que me esperarían con un sombrero en la puerta para pedir donaciones jajajaja. Creo que es un buen hotel para ir con la familia, a mi mami le encantó y este viaje fue para ella así que ella lo recomienda! Muchas gracias! "

"Catalonia Riviera Maya can be a good option if you’re visiting Quintana Roo on a budget, but there are a few things to keep in mind before booking. First, there isn’t a traditional beach—just a small bay where you can swim. It’s still enjoyable, but it may not meet expectations if you’re looking for long sandy stretches. Restaurant reservations are quite limited. For example, during our 9-night stay, we were only able to book 4 dinners. You can try going to the restaurants around 6 PM to check for last-minute availability (often around 9 PM), but it’s not guaranteed. Also, meals are restricted to one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert per person. Rooms are decent if you book a deluxe option, though they could definitely use some renovations. The resort grounds are well-maintained, and most of the staff are friendly, though we did encounter a few less welcoming interactions. Food overall is average—definitely edible, but not a highlight of the stay. On the positive side, the spa and gym facilities are excellent. The Italian restaurant stood out with great service, especially from Alejandra and Lucas. Overall: A decent budget-friendly resort with some trade-offs, especially in dining and beach quality."

"This was our second stay at Barcelo Maya Palace. We love having so many options and being able to play at each of the resort's pools, water slide parks, and beaches. The resort's location is also so nice and close to the Xplor and Xel-ha parks. One disappointment this visit was we weren't able to get a reservation at the teppanyaki restaurant, even thought we inquired when we were checking in."

"Very disappointed with this resort. I chose it based on reviews that did not match reality. The rooms were clean, but the bathrooms were very outdated. There was no visible security, guests were fighting around 2–3 AM after parties, and no staff came to check on them, which felt unsafe and disrupted sleep. The beach also had no security. Buffet food was limited, soups were overly salty, and items were not refilled if you came later. Not suitable for a relaxing vacation—more of a party place. Would not recommend for relaxing."

""The resort in Playa del Carmen had so many wonderful aspects—beautiful grounds, fantastic food, and most of the staff were exceptional. However, I had a deeply upsetting experience. After being seated in a restaurant, my girlfriend was asked to leave due to a dress code, which was incredibly embarrassing, especially since we were already seated. The assistant concierge manager’s response was frightening—he spoke in a threatening, almost thuggish way, and it left us uneasy, especially as tourists in a foreign country. I also made a mistake by reacting in anger and disrespecting her on the way out, and I deeply regret that. My reaction was a response to feeling powerless, but I take full responsibility. Despite this, I hope the resort addresses this behavior, because it otherwise has great potential. I give the resort 3 stars—the staff and setting were fantastic, but this incident left a serious mark on our experience.""
