"The location and the pool of this hotel is great. The issue is the place needs maintenance. PAINT!! RUST ON LIGHT FIXTURES, DIRTY AND STAINED FURNITURE. The woman at the front desk in the morning needs to be trained on how to speak with customers. The young gentleman in the evening was GREAT! Staff at the restaurant was hospitable but SLOW. We had to wait over 15 minutes for our check. This happened twice. The gift shop woman was very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this hotel."

"Really loved my time at the Riu. The property itself is beautiful, and the oceanfront does not disappoint. The two pools on site each have a totally different feel. One is laid back and perfect for relaxing, the other has more of a party atmosphere. Great options depending on your mood. Food was solid, especially for a resort. Better than I expected. One thing worth knowing before you book: When I booked through Expedia it had listed an $850 resort credit that I could use. Once I was at the resort, it turned out that the credit I was shown isn't a lump sum you can actually spend. The resort breaks it into small discount coupons scattered across different services, think $10 or $20 off here and there. Doesn't ruin the trip, but it's worth going in with accurate expectations."

"Was so excited for this stay and honestly the staff had zero customer service and most were straight up rude. I don’t know if it was because we were Americans or what but that is the sole reason we won’t be coming back. The property itself is absolutely beautiful but extremely huge with no tram or anything similar to get from one side to the other. So it’s hard for elders and small children to walk all day everyday and do the walking at the parks too. Was not prepared for that. We picked an upgraded room when booking and when we got there to check in they advised us that room wasn’t available and they would have to put us in a downgraded room with no refund for the difference. I thought it was extremely distasteful and unacceptable way to handle it. They didn’t apologize or anything just told us it is what it is…. Also you can only book dinner reservations at the concierge desk which they have 15 staff members standing there at all times more than half of them standing around chatting with each other not working and don’t answer the phones when you call from your room to avoid a long walk to the front lobby. When you ask for an kind of directions to get somewhere they act as though you should know and will point in a general direction. Honestly for what we spent I would expect more customer service. "

"We chose this place because we needed something good enough, on a budget, and last minute. This place was smaller than what I thought it would be, but that turned out to be good. I've gone to other large resorts and it gets a little tiring having to walk far to have dinner or needing a shuttle. They have one medium sized pool which was surprisingly warm. The beach area was very small, but it was clean. They have a sauna and steam room which were really nice. Their hot tub was unfortunately small and cold. The room was clean, air conditioning worked well, bed was comfortable, and staff were great! We enjoyed the meals at the Mexican and Italian restaurants. They surprised us with a bottle of champagne, cake, and decorations in our room for my husband's birthday. The food at the buffet was mixed. I was not a big fan of breakfast, but lunch and dinner had some amazing options. They change the menu every day and the asian food was delicious! I'm glad we stayed here. We had a great time and the staff were very thoughtful."
