Recently built up to a happening yet noise tamed town, it rivals Astoria and combines industrial like buildings with residential ones to create its own character of a mini Manhattan.

Artsy area, with both industrial buildings and new housing, restaurants and hotels. Free and available street parking (very unusual in nyc). Out-of-towners not used to urban areas may need a ritzier neighborhood but we love it.

Close enough to Manhattan if you wanted to head over for tourist stuff. I do lots of work in Long Island City when I travel so for me staying at a hotel here is the best option. Lots of good food close buy without the Manhattan prices too.

I left my car parked around the area and took Uber to the city. Because of the proximity, the price was budget friendly and spared the headache of looking for parking in the city.
