I loved the modern feel to the resort, however it didn’t feel like we were in Cancun on a tropical vacation. Only saw a few iguanas, no coati or birds :( When we arrived, the only reservations available were at 9:30, for the kids in our group that was exhausting.. Too many times during our stay, I got “we ran out of….” It was very discouraging We mostly dined at the buffet restaurants and made quite the stops by the taco stand. Great staff!

This place is huge and the services is good. The only thing is the smell of seaweeds is soo bad if you stay on the north building. I couldn't even walk on the beach or sit on our balcony because of the smell.

I rarely leave reviews, but this resort was such a disappointment I had to speak up. We came to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday and left frustrated. For over $5,000, this place failed us in every way. We never received any pre-arrival info—no mention of restaurant reservations or shuttle service. We ended up paying $160 at the airport for a 10-minute ride. By the time we arrived, all restaurants were booked except Teppanyaki (decent) and Livo (awful—tiny, flavorless food after a long wait). The website menus are misleading; actual choices are very limited. Room service was always wrong, took over an hour, and was bland. The buffet was worse—raw burgers and uncooked pizza dough even after sending it back twice. Our sheets were dirty, and room service never replaced our coffee cups unless we asked. The beach smelled terrible and was unswimmable. We had three power outages. The hotel is still under construction despite being open over a year—never disclosed before booking. Kids banged on our door two nights in a row, scaring my youngest. The front desk said they’d handle it but never did. Diego, our concierge, ignored our concerns. Julian lied about birthday perks when we declined his overpriced tours. A staff member promised a piñata and balloons—nothing arrived. Angel promised a 4:30 am taxi; no taxi ever showed.

Our recent trip to The Ava was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and consistent throughout our stay. Every staff member we encountered was kind, helpful, and truly made us feel at home. The food across the resort was exceptional,well-seasoned and consistently delicious. Each dining restaurant delivered a 10/10 experience, and the top-shelf liquor available throughout the property was a nice touch (no hangovers here!). We especially loved the nightly shows,they were vibrant, fun, and added a nice touch of entertainment to each evening. My daughter had the best time at the kids club. The activities they planned were engaging and thoughtful, and it was great knowing she was having fun in a safe, creative space. The pool was a standout feature,beautifully maintained and perfect for both relaxation and fun. We loved kayaking in the pool, and the kiddie bowling was a hit for the whole family. Laser tag was also a lot of fun, though we wished the space was a bit larger to really move around. The arcade and the gelato ice cream bar were huge hits with the kids too! The spa was stunning and serene, offering the perfect escape for a little “me” time. While The Ava isn’t exactly a beach resort, the incredible pool and amenities more than made up for it. Do keep in mind there’s a lot of walking since everything is on one level,but that also made it stroller and kid-friendly. Overall, The Ava delivered a fantastic family getaway e

AVA Resort has great potential and a beautiful setup, but it’s still figuring out how to operate like a true 5-star resort. We arrived early after a long overnight flight with two kids and were checked in by 10 AM—surprisingly fast without early check-in. However, instead of being welcomed with help or hotel info,they tried to push us into a timeshare pitch right away, which was frustrating and inappropriate. We received little guidance about how to book restaurants, and the app they provided booked us into adult-only spots—even after we entered our kids’ ages. The first night ended with buffet food instead of the experience we were promised. After complaining, we were finally assigned a concierge (Diego) who was excellent and helped save the rest of the stay. The hotel is clean and beautiful, room service is fast, and there are great snack and drink stations everywhere. However, there were repeated issues with restaurants running out of basic items (like tomatoes for 3 days), inconsistent bar stock, mold in our room, and long waits for poolside service. Entertainment was minimal and poorly communicated. The resort has real potential, but right now it doesn’t meet 5-star standards.

First and foremost, the room I stayed in was extremely noisy. There was a constant sound of water flowing from the ceiling, especially during the night, which made it nearly impossible to sleep. It was honestly one of the noisiest rooms I have ever stayed in. My friend, who was staying in another room, also experienced the same issue. Additionally, the service at the gift shop downstairs was unacceptable. Items were not properly arranged, and when something fell and broke, the staff pressured the customer to pay for it, even though it was clearly due to poor placement. This experience has been quite disappointing and did not meet the standards I expected from your hotel. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues to ensure better service and comfort for future guests.

El hotel esta bien lindo y moderno. La calidad de la comida y los tragos muy buena pero fuimos un grupo donde nos sentimos bien maltratados por algunos empleados, al punto de que sentimos que no soportaban atendernos y por falta de propina no fue ya que dabamos un promedio de mas de 300-500 USD diarios. En una ocasión nos dijeron que no nos iban a seguir dando servicio porque habíamos excedido el limite de bebidas el cual alegaron eran 4 shots al dia. Pedimos hablar con algun manager y la que vino fue una señora de recursos humanos que mas mal no nos pudo atender. En vez de disculparse nos dijo… si ustedes quieren seguir consumiendo ya se les va a seguir atendiendo! El señor del bar de la piscina de adultos nos dijo que no nos iba a seguir dando tragos porque a el no le daba su gana!! En cuanto a lo demas no les aconsejo coger ningún tur con el otel que también es otra estafa. El hotel bello pero todavía en construcción donde trabajan de madrugada y el sonido del drill y los martillos no me dejaron dormir. El desayuno en el buffet con esperas de mas de 20 a 30 minutos y cosas sencillas como el queso y el jamón no es libre para coger a tu gusto. Hay que pedirlo. Por lo demás bastante bien lo unico que para poder hacer el check in se demoraron mas de dos horas y para el check out si llegabas tarde pues dicen que hay que pagar 150 usd. Ahi se los dejo

This was my third time staying at Ava within the first year of its opening and unfortunately, it will be my last. If I’m being honest, coming for a 3rd time was on me and I blame myself for expecting different. They simply cannot handle the volume of guests they get. Despite paying a decent amount of money per night, their restaurants are always booked. If you can’t pre-reserve your restaurant choices, why even offer them. They claim they’re full but they sit half empty! The overall service from workers isn’t great. It seems as if we’re a nuisance rather than appreciated for spending money their resort. BTW, this is coming from one of the most relaxed vacationers you imagine. We don’t ask for much or anything for that matter at all! The managers attempted to rectify the situation but it was mostly over promise and under deliver. Even then, I kept it respectful and appreciated the “effort.” I won’t be returning and spending my money here going forward.

El hotel es nuevo y esta limpio y huele bien dentro del hotel aunque mucho sargazo en la playa y daba mal olor en los alrededores, en realidad la playa no sirve para nada, la comida no era muy variada, incluso en los restaurantes habían platos con costo extra, si planeas ir un grupo grande no te recomiendo este hotel porque quieren limitar también la bebida alcohólica que consumes, tuvimos mala experiencia también con un tour que compramos por el hotel porque te dicen una cosa y es otra la realidad , te venden el tour por 5 horas y luego solo tienes tiempo de estar 1 hora y media en la playa, conclusion no regresaría para nada a este hotel, hay muchos otros que estoy segura que te pueden hacer pasar unas vacaciones sin tener que dar tanto complain por todo que al final terminas estresada

Everyone here at the resort were very friendly and except the waiters in the pool areas some of them didn’t smile and acted like they didn’t want to help.

There were never any places to eat at the Black Iron, we ate because my husband was looking for the CEO of the kitchen for a day and a half Michel Bustier so we could eat. We only felt very good when we spoke with Zulema, a buffet worker with a big heart and Ramon, a buffet waiter, also Francisco from the buffet. I think they need more hygiene in the bathrooms, the kids club is horrible for picking up the kids on time, if you go over they charge you $ 25 and they don't send you WhatsApp texts, they have you from one side to the other, you can't relax as a parent on vacation and my children do like the play room in all the hotels.

The property is beautiful and spotless. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The resort itself is large and convenient, with bars, restaurants, a store, coffee shop, ice cream, and even a club all in one place. The pools are great and the views are stunning, but the beach was a major letdown. We understand it was seaweed season, but there was no visible effort to clean it. We visited Isla Mujeres and the beaches there were gorgeous in comparison. At first, we were given a room on the north side, but the smell was like seaweed and sewage which was unbearable, even inside. We switched to the south side the next day, and it made a huge difference. Also, not all pools are accessible. Those with in-pool bars require a special wristband. Poolside drink service was extremely slow, sometimes taking over 30 minutes. The buffet is basic, and anything made to order like omelets or crepes had long lines. Overall, it’s a beautiful resort, and with some improvements, it could easily be a 10. But based on our full experience, it’s more of a 6
