"Hotel Higashiyama Kyoto Pan Pacific delivered a pleasant stay, with the service easily being its strongest asset. The staff—especially those in the bell/door team and food & beverage—were consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Their hospitality elevated the experience from check-in through departure. The room itself was the biggest disappointment. While the bed was exceptionally comfortable, the room felt quite tight, and the bathroom occupied what seemed like nearly half of the available space, making the living area feel even smaller. The twin bed setup to form “one bed” was downright annoying and does not work well for a couple. That said, I appreciated the traditional Japanese tea set provided as a welcome amenity, and the robes added a nice touch that enhanced the Kyoto experience. Complimentary bottled water replenished daily was also greatly appreciated during the summer heat. The property itself is attractive, with a peaceful courtyard, a fitness center, and a quality restaurant. Unfortunately, the food and beverage offerings felt noticeably overpriced for what was served, making dining at the hotel difficult to justify given Kyoto’s abundance of excellent restaurants nearby. The lobby bar area is also limited and closed early. While the hotel markets itself as a luxury property, it never quite delivers the memorable touches or extensive amenities that define a luxury experience."

"Room was very narrow and kept catching my arm in the wall mounted TV. Buffet breakfast was basic but nice. Unlimited soft drinks available throughout the day which was nice after heat outside. Had a kettle but no cups, tea/coffee etc. the freezer box door was missing so all our drinks and food snacks froze and we had to throw them away. Bathroom was ok but bit dated."
