"Beautiful beach, clean room, small and boutique feel but without the attitude"

"UMi was a fantastic couples getaway. Even with the beaches in Tulum being hit with heavy sargassum, their staff was consistently raking and removing it so there were no interruptions to our experience. The property was amazing, the Ocean Front Master Suite was perfect. The hotel staff was friendly and always available to make ordering drinks or food easy. The staff confirmed restaurant reservations for us before our arrival. Food was great - the included breakfast was phenomenal! UMi's proximity to everything was exactly what we wanted. We walked everywhere in the Hotel zone, never had to use a cab or ride service - though it was an option if needed. 10/10 would recommend and go back!"

"I was Beyond disappointed. Rooms smelled like a tiki torch fuel. You cant flush toilet paper and are asked to leave it in the trash in the room for 24 hrs. the beach was dirty and unclean. I asked for a refund and they didn't honor it or give me credit to one of their alternate properties Very poorly managed"

"Amazing hotel with a private cenote, a little piece of paradise away from the busy street. Very serene place to enjoy a great DJ during the day, reading by the cenote, enjoying good (however pricey) food and drinks. The low point… we lamented being given a premium room with a view on abandoned structures that ruined the experience. Tried to change our room but the hotel management was totally deaf to our request, and only offered to upgrade us at a cost $65/night when we were already paying in excess of $300… so they left us with a very mixed feeling…."

"Had an amazing stay at MIA. The location is perfect—right on the beachfront—with a great-sized pool and genuinely friendly staff (special shoutout to Anna!). One of the highlights was the beachside massage setup—super relaxing and thoughtfully done. Our room had stunning views of both the ocean and pool, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was just incredible. The bathroom was spacious and laid out well. Overall, such a serene and memorable experience—I’d absolutely come back."

"Unfortunately, our 4-night stay at Playa Canek Beachfront Eco Hotel was very disappointing and far below expectations. We understand this is an eco-style property, but many of the issues were related to cleanliness, maintenance, and basic guest comfort — not the eco concept. When we checked in, the suite was extremely hot and muggy. The downstairs area felt dirty, the bedding appeared unclean, and the bathroom was in poor condition. One sink did not work, the other had very low water pressure, and the faucets looked dirty enough that we didn’t want to touch them. The AC in the downstairs bedroom was not functioning, so we had to rely on two fans. The worst experience was our last night, when the AC stopped working completely and the power went out from about 1 AM to 5 AM, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. We also dealt with excessive mosquitoes and were bitten repeatedly during the stay. For the price paid, we expected a much better level of cleanliness, upkeep, and comfort. The property has a beautiful location, but the room conditions and maintenance issues significantly impacted our vacation. Based on our experience, we do not feel the stay delivered the value promised and believe compensation or a partial refund would be appropriate."

"If you're looking for a five-star resort with a very natural feel, this is for you. The amenities, restaurants and staff are top notch. Still very equal friendly. It's an adventure, just walking around the property. Unfortunately, the ocean was full seaweed. The resort did have workers there every morning keeping the sand looking pristine."
