"This is a lovely historic hotel close to the art and theatre district. Out room was clean but really needed an update. I understand it’s historic, but there were some soft spots on the floor in a couple of spots that were uncomfortable. The water in the shower was very touchy and unpredictable between to hot and too cold. The room temp was waaay to hot and there was no way to control the temp as it’s a steam coil on the wall situation. All we could do was “turn off the steam and you’re welcome to open the window”. Only one would open and it did not cool the room off much at all. UNTIL the next day, while we were out and then it REALLY cooled it down. Then there was no way to warm it back up because by then they must have gotten enough complaints about the heat so the whole system was off! So now the room is cold and no heat to warm it back up! The staff is friendly and helpful as they can be. Parking here is expensive and perilous. For a lovely as the hotel is, I think I’d skip the stay and visit the restaurant instead to see it. "

"This is a charming hotel and restaurant. The omelets in the AM were fantastic! The rooms were clean and comfy. The staff was very friendly. When we checked in, there was a note to read regarding potentially being parked in. It is a small parking lot and apparently with their one car per room limit, they are still one spot short. They gave instructions on what to do if you were parked in and needed to get your car out in the middle of the night. I thought to myself "We don't need to worry about that, what could possibly go wrong?" I peeked out our window at about 11:30pm and noticed that we were indeed parked in. At 2:30am we got a call from our daughter who was at an apartment several blocks away. She was very ill and a visit to the ER was very likely. Instead of calling the emergency number to have the blocking car moved, my husband decided to make the 15 minute walk to her apartment and stayed with her until the AM. The moral of the story is #1. Don't jinx yourself by thinking something can't happen, and #2, try to park closer to the road, as the spots closest to the fence on the inside of the lot are the ones that will be parked in. We weren't sure how long it would take to get a response to have the car moved, which is why he decided to walk there instead. Despite this, we would stay here again."
