"The staff was very helpful calling taxis for us. The hotel was busy, and my floor was loud. Some families allowing children to run the halls and people having full, loud conversations in the hallways at night. The breakfast buffet was amazing and had a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji. I had a Mt. Fuji view room, but with a roller coaster in the view. I was not expecting that. Still nice to see Mt. Fuji upon waking."

"La chambre pour 3 personnes était propre et spacieuse. Le reste de l’hôtel était très propre aussi. Il y avait une salle de jeux au sous-sol et un écran géant à la réception. Seul petit bémol: le stationnement réservé aux clients de l’hôtel est à quelques minutes de marche de l’hôtel - mais je comprends que les terrains assez vastes sont rares."

"We had a wonderful time at HaoStay. The space was ample in the Watermelon house, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. The location is a walk from the train station but you can get picked up and dropped off. We enjoyed not being right by the train station. Staff were very friendly."

"Wakakusa no Yado Maruei gave us an unforgettable ryokan experience. We visited in mid‑May, and the staff’s warmth stood out from the moment we arrived. Even though we came early, they checked us in using a translation app, stored our bags, and welcomed us back enthusiastically at check‑in. We were treated to green tea and manju in the lobby bar, which made us feel like VIPs. Our bags were already in our room when we arrived. The room was spacious by Japanese standards, with an entry area, leather slippers, double sinks, a shower, a separate toilet room with its own slippers, a living area, and a tatami sleeping space facing beautiful Lake Kawaguchi. The futon bedding was very comfortable. The hotel has three onsen areas—indoor, outdoor, and a private one. We booked the private onsen in the afternoon as recommended, and the view of Mount Fuji was spectacular. We were lucky to have clear weather, making the experience even more special. Our in‑room kaiseki dinner was a highlight. Each of the many small dishes was beautifully prepared, including an aperitif from a local winery. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with gorgeous presentation and thoughtful service. While Japanese people are known for their polite and respectful manner, the staff at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei truly go above and beyond. This was our first ryokan experience, and I would absolutely return for the serene room, the wonderful food, and the exceptional hospitality."

"First time staying at the cottage inJapan. I feel like staying at home rather than a hotel, I have to collect the trash to the trash cabin of the premise myself and clean up every kitchen tool and put things back in places where it should be before checking out at 10 am which is too early. Most hotels in Japan check out time is 11 am. Living area and bedrooms equiped with ACs and Heaters but chairs in living room are not comfy. There is one big coackroach in the Baht room that is why there is pesticide spray at the entrance of the cottage. For those who like being close to nature and home-style stay, this is one choice with very good view of Fujisan on a sunny day. "
