「Lovely New Forest pub. Very friendly atmosphere. Large clean room, comfy bed, modern bathroom. Very quiet at night. Big breakfast, varied evening meals and excellent beer. New Forest ponies on the green and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's grave two minutes up the road! Excellent value. Really enjoyed our stay, thanks.」

「Nice charming hotel a few minutes walk from the main part of town (which is only a few blocks long). Only negative was the breakfast - very disappointing.」

「Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers」

「Lovely comfy room, fan provided during the extreme heat. Lovely small, mostly shaded, terrace at the back of the hotel. Delicious breakfast and very helpful, friendly staff. There is one set of steep, narrow stairs to get to the rooms although help was offered to carry up our case.」

「A great hotel in lovely setting , we have been coming here for short breaks for 20 years . Staff are always super helpful and facilities are great . Breakfast not as good as it used to be with only buffet option , should re- introduce the no charge al a carte menu for those who don’t enjoy buffet. Also bread choice very limited - need Granary / baguette options. Swimming pool was excellent with superb facilities for ordering drinks to the pool which in the extreme heat was very much...

「Probably due to limitations of the vertical movement of the elevators, we , staying at the lower level, took ages to get to the front desk to check out.」

「Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good. This is our second time staying and it definitely won’t be...
