"Great ocean view. Stayed in 2 bedroom suite. Would be nice if they had chairs or umbrellas for the beach and room service. Roof top food is closed during the weekdays. Comfortable bed and good water pressure. House keeping staff were all very pleasant. Hotel at this price point is missing little touches: complimentary water, towles upon return from being out all day, afternoon refreshments etc. Room could use some updates, shower door paint peeling, etc. Sofa had a urine smell and they cleaned it immediately but no compensation was offered until asking which is standard practice. "

"Lovely hotel. Great location. Unfortunately we booked a king size room and were placed in a queen room. Front desk obliged and moved us. Tiny shower with a plastic shower curtain didn’t match the vibe of the elaborate hotel. Be prepared to pay $65 for valet parking. There is zero street parking anywhere in Malibu without a permit. Valet Parking seems a little steep on top of your room rate. "

"Terrific stay. Lovely staff. Every interaction was wonderful, particularly Dillon at the front desk, all of the valets, Jonathan in the lobby restaurant, and Callie at the rooftop restaurant. The roof was in the Landmark part of the hotel, had a small terrace, and was beautiful. The Proper is a great hotel for a small conference or meeting. They have a dedication to art, fitness and wellness, including providing both bikes and e-bikes for guests. It’s not the closest hotel to the beach / coast, but isn’t far either, and is adjacent to a relatively quiet residential area. "

"the property was decently within walking of plenty of shopping. Our second night there we returned to people in our room repairing the shower. We had not been notified of any issues, we asked to be moved and it was done quickly but would have loved a heads up that we needed to be out of the room longer after a long day out in the sun we were ready to relax. Not move from room to room. otherwise the property was nice."
