This is the worst 5-star all-inclusive experience our family had during christmas. We did not have hot shower for three nights and the room has been freezing cold. We informed the hotel the first night and they kept sending maintenance people without fixing it. And whats worse, they did not really care about our problems. Everytime I called them, I need to explain the situation again. And what I got is 'we will send someone to fix' ' the hotel is fully booked so not possible to change the room' or 'this is the general problem'. The daily activities and restaurants are good but I think the room itself is the basic of which the problem and technicians visits, really bother our holiday mood.

The property was in good condition. There are a couple things that bothered me. The staff near my room building continued to want me to stop and get information about returning. I had not even started my vacation and already felt them wasting my time trying to listen to promotions. Also the buffet staff were trying to take my plate 5 minutes after I started eating. In one instance the waitress told me 3 times that they will be closing the buffet in 15 minutes. If I still had 15 minutes to eat I don’t see why they had to continue to bother me. One time notice would have been enough.

Coffee was terrible even the one we bought! They didn’t mop the hallway floors, we were there for 4 days and the floors stayed dirty. Food was gross drinks are gross syrup tastes like chemicals. The first room they gave us was full of mold it smelled so bad they moved us rooms to a side where they were remolding they started demo at 6 am and it smelled like acetone. The beds were small and hard definitely do not recommend.

Globalement, l’expérience a été plutôt bonne, mais avec plusieurs points à améliorer. La chambre était correcte et propre, ce qui est un point important. En revanche, les équipements sont clairement vieillissants et mériteraient d’être modernisés. Concernant la restauration, le vrai problème est la chaleur des plats : la nourriture est souvent froide, ce qui gâche l’expérience, même s’il faut reconnaître qu’il y a du choix. Autre point décevant : devoir payer certains cafés (comme les expressos) dans un hôtel de ce standing au Mexique, c’est assez surprenant. Les infrastructures montrent aussi leurs limites : il n’y a pas assez de places assises pour les animations du soir et les bars, ce qui peut vite devenir frustrant. De plus, l’absence de parasols sur la plage est un vrai manque, surtout avec le climat. Cependant, tout n’est pas négatif, loin de là : • Les 11 restaurants à la carte sont un vrai plus • La plage est bien aménagée dans l’ensemble • Le cadre est magnifique, en pleine jungle avec des animaux sauvages, ce qui rend le séjour dépaysant • Le personnel est globalement sympathique et agréable Petit bémol tout de même sur le “service client”, qui est assez insistant pour pousser à devenir membre de la chaîne. On ressent clairement une pression commerciale, ce qui peut être un peu dérangeant pendant les vacances. En résumé, un séjour agréable grâce au cadre et au personnel, mais avec des axes d’amélioration importants…

The grounds were amazing and we loved the animals that roamed everywhere. Very fun! Our room was clean and well maintained. We even had a minor issue with our ac and it was handled promptly with no issues after. Being able to snorkle everywhere on the property was great! We enjoyed the proximity to Xplor and Xcaret!

The food was subpar at best. Breakfast was the same thing every day with no variety but the reason we will not return is how difficult and unwelcoming the reservation process they have in place for dinners. Was we had three rooms in a party of nine we only were able to get two nights of specialty dinners, and that was after putting much pressure on the woman who had a terrible attitude behind the counter… The Mexican restaurant was deplorable served us ice cold food after waiting an hour and 45 minutes for our entrées.. terrible attitude from the wait staff(at the front when you check in at La Hacienda) after spending thousands for a five night stay and bringing along family and friends to share the experience. This was quite an embarrassing situation to say the least that was not our first day at occidental, but it will be our last. I don’t know if ownership changed from 2018 till now but the surface the quality of food and professionalism has completely tanked. It saddens me because the eco-friendly beautiful vibe of the wildlife was an awesome memory for our family with both visits, but unfortunately does not outweigh the negative

What a great trip. We loved the unique location, the surrounding animals and nature, excellent service, and comfortable rooms. The food was great, everything was well-organized, and everything ran smoothly. The salespeople were a bit pushy initially, but once we shared our plans and preferences, they gave us space. The Xcaret park entrances are literally right by the lobby and the hotel's beach areas. However, it felt like you were inside Xcaret park even while on the resort grounds. We booked unlimited park entrances, and that was a fantastic choice for us. We did 1-2 experiences each day and then enjoyed relaxing by the pool or the ocean in the afternoons. The night shows at the resort were entertaining and culturally rich. This was our 6th or 7th trip to Mexico, and we’ve learned so much about its culture, people, and beautiful land during this visit.

El hotel es hermoso! Desde que llegas te enamora, cada espacio, cada detalle.. La limpieza se nota, todos los días limpian los cuartos, están pendientes a todo, el personal del hotel muy amable y las actividades en el área de la piscina muy amenas! La verdad que lo recomiendo totalmente! También el hecho de que está cerca de los parques Xcaret y Xplore nos gustó pues pudimos coordinar y disfrutarlos. Sin embargo aspectos que deben mejorar el buffet aunque variado pero la comida como que no tiene mucho sabor. El área del desayuno solo una estación de omelettes y huevos disponible las filas muy largas… De lo demás todo excelente!

I was a bit apprehensive after seeing some of the complaints from others about this resort. I am very glad I went ahead and booked. There is a lot to love about this resort, and only a few small negatives. This resort is very sprawling and covers a lot of ground. With how it is built into the jungle, it feels like a mini adventure park just walking around. They have several Mayan ruins, lots of kept and unkept wildlife, like monkeys, deer, and macaws. The main pool is huge and beautiful. It is slightly brackish (salty), but this I think is actually a plus. There are several kids areas and a very nice daycare program and play area. For us the ocean cove was a hit. Fish, activities, sand. Wonderful for relaxing. A snorkeling area, though water there is rougher and the entry needs work. Many other reviews complained of food and rooms being dated. For the premium restaurants, The Oriental restaurant is the best, The Mexican was okay, the rest were not a good fit for us. Buffets here are excellent and they clearly spend time and staff them to make it a premium experience. I highly recommend the buffets. Huge variety of food, most of which is very well prepared. Deserts and baked goods were very tasty everyday. As for the rooms, yes, they are showing their age some, but the beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, maintained, and everything worked as it should. Their wristband room keys are awesome. Common areas are beautiful and clean.

On our first day, right after arrival, we went to the beachside restaurant. Unfortunately, the food selection was very limited, and most of the dishes were cold and low quality. When we got to our room to rest, we were very disappointed to find multiple large, clearly visible stains on the bed sheets and pillowcases. This was quite upsetting, especially as a first impression. We contacted Expedia and even requested to change our hotel, but that request was not approved. However, the front desk provided us with another room, which was noticeably better. Overall, the food quality throughout our stay was below average. Most dishes were either cold or overcooked. On a positive note, the majority of the staff were kind and friendly, with only a couple of exceptions, which didn’t significantly affect our experience. The hotel environment and natural surroundings were beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of the stay.

Let’s start with the good - staff is generally very helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Wendy in the Spa. Our couples massage was good. Be prepared for the wildlife - monkeys, iguanas, deer, capybara, parrots, and coati. The rooms were average. Room service came daily, however, you must ask for face towels and you are lucky if you receive them. We have a few plumbing issues in our room that were resolved pretty quickly. I did have to remind the staff cleaning up after the toilet overflow to please use cleaning solution on the floor in the bathroom. That was a bit concerning, but ultimately it got done. The best times were actually off of the resort at the Xplor park and my favorite was taking a ferry ride to Cozumel. They do offer nightly shows, which I did not have an opportunity to enjoy - my days were long and the weather was warm so I spent most days by the pool or after the lagoon. The most disappointing thing about the resort was the food. We were unable to book a restaurant for several days and were stuck eating the buffet food, which was mediocre at best. The breakfast buffet was better, but generally, the food is below average. I went completely without food on one night because the food we ordered at the Mexican restaurant and waited two hours for was served cold. For our trouble, we received free room service, which we used the following night and was also cold. It tasted like it had been in the refrigerator. Despite the good service, I would not stay again.

It was paradise! You are in the middle of the jungle with the ocean within walking distance. The people working at the resort are amazing! They are knowledgeable and kind as well as helpful. We had two rooms, a king junior suite and a double junior suite. The king suite was huge with a couch and love seat that you could turn into an additional bed. Both rooms had balconies. The double suite was on the top floor (3), so there was a lot of monkey activity. Do NOT feed them or touch them because they bite. You will ruin your vacation by needing a tetanus vaccine, rabies protocol, and antibiotics not to mention the trauma from the actual bite. They will also steal your things, like your eyeglasses and jewelry. They are fun to watch, but keep your distance. There are tons of exotic animals and giant iguanas. The food isn't gourmet, but there are options for everyone. The alcohol is included and strong, so drink tons of bottled water. They recycle. Leave all of your plastic cups and water bottles in your room, and housekeeping will take care of it. We had an incredible time and highly recommend going there. The resort is very safe. It's also quiet at night.
