I recently stayed at HoteXcaret and it was a complete letdown from start to finish. Despite reaching out more than three weeks ahead via email to request several key things for my trip, almost none of my expectations were met, and the entire experience felt disorganized and frustrating.
First off, I tried to book a dinner reservation at Las Cuevas restaurant before my arrival, but when I got there, I was told I couldn’t get a table. I had actually chatted with the hotel’s WhatsApp bot, who confirmed that reservations weren’t necessary—turns out that was completely wrong. Not only was I left without dinner plans, but I also didn’t get any birthday gift or amenity in my room, despite asking for one in advance for a special occasion.
To make matters worse, I also tried to arrange activities like kayaking and a trip to Xochimilco. None of this was confirmed ahead of time, and when I arrived, I was told it was too late to book anything. The concierge service was basically useless—every time I asked for help, I got little to no assistance, and definitely no solutions.
Another issue was with the staff in Phase 1 of the hotel, particularly some of the waitresses and cooks, who were just downright rude and unhelpful. At Mercado de La Merced, I arrived with plenty of time before they closed, but they refused to serve me drinks because they were "too busy preparing for the next day." This is not the level of service I was expecting.
Overall, my experience was a huge disappointment
