Duct tape holding down carpets, HVAC didn't work (staff helped a little), sink leaked, no fridge, noisy halls with poor sound-proofing, and the elevators are controlled by a crazy set of panels that may or may not work. "

"The New Yorker is perfectly located, especially for those of us who travel by train. The hotel has been renovated, but retains a lot of the original Art Deco decor. The room rates are reasonable for the location and comfort level of the property. The room was quite spacious, as I was offered a very attractive upgrade. The bed was comfortable; blackout shades were helpful. The bathroom was adequate, though a walk-in shower upgrade would have been appreciated over the old cast iron bathtub. Housekeeping was exceptional."

"Check-in went very smoothly the room definitely had everything we needed. This was a staffless hotel however the Hotel staff ( James specifically )was very helpful and swift to confirm and assist with anything we needed. LOCATION was great everything we wanted to do was within a 30 min walk or less. Lots of things to eat nearby there was even a fresh market right next to the building with great breakfast options for a quick breakfast 10/10"

"Horrible hotel. Staff was rude when I complained about the fact that my room was 78 degrees and felt like an oven when I got in. Had to send someone to fix it and then it took 45 minutes for the room to cool off. To make matters worse, when I got in the shower to get ready for my business meeting, THERE WAS NI HOT WATER. I cannot believe I paid $370 to spend a night in that hotel! When I got angry with the clerk, the clerk told me I should not be directing my anger towards him as I made the reservation through Expedia! Not even a simple “we are sorry.” I am furious about this. Absolutely outrageous. "

"This seemed like a perfect fit until it wasn’t. Positives: front door men were very nice and welcoming. However- Bartender in lobby bar ignored me for five minutes taking care of younger, non hotel guests - I was trying to use my $20 credit so I stuck it out. Rooftop bar was beautiful but the staff were young and unfriendly. Both times we visited, same feeling-we didn’t belong. We weren’t young and NYers. No glass ware for any drinks, drinking out of patio plastic wine cups! Even $20 glass of wine/ martini. This hotel does not control their non hotel guests in for the nightclub vibe. It’s loud, unruly (young adults sitting and laying on the floor in the lobby walkway blocking anywhere you wanted to walk). One guy was walking around without a shirt the disrobed his pants. This was all before midnight. Our room each night sounded like a club; we could hear the music, the shouting crowds, this on top of NYC noise was almost unbearable. The continental breakfast is coffee, juice bottles, some apples, small yogurts and some small packaged items. The items are not replenished swiftly, especially 9:30-10am. For $ of the rooms, should have just stayed somewhere else. We didn't' take advantage of the nightlife, which was one of the reasons we booked here. The hotel is NOT for kids. ONE shuffleboard. The shower in the room did not drain properly, water was all over the bathroom-and no exhaust fan. There was a smell of mildew after housekeeping. Plastic on rug the 8th w/ strong smell."

"This hotel was very nice but their elevator were broken which was a real bummer bc it has 30+ floors. They managed to get 2 of them working but it took a very long time. The staff could not possibly have been nicer and they discounted our room by 20% which was very nice so I would definitely stay there again over-all. Everything else was perfect."
