"Amazingly clean, quiet, and private. Better than any hostel, cheaper than any hotel—and worlds away from the comic book stores for about the same price. Could have here all month. Will definitely make a point to return to Face to Face when we circle back."

"Great place to go and chill, make sure your room has an outdoor soaking tub. However, I felt the staff does not typically deal with English speaking guests, while they are accommodating, culture may have been an issue. One staff member, from India was essentially assigned to my well being, and after I requested a taxi to drive me from the hotel to a further train station, I decided to utilize the local train to connect to the further station, and requested the hotel shuttle. We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests. They gave us some great advice on making a our day trip up the valley on the Oigawa Railway even better, and invited us to a group dinner /...

Absolutely amazing! Didn't want to leave. The hospitality was incredible! The owners were indescribably awesome! Not enough words or stars to rate the best experience and warmest I've ever had.

A very peaceful stay near the shrine in Fujinomiya. It was nice to have a genuine tatami room sleep.
If you are a big party this could be a really great place to book all rooms.
If you have accessible needs, I will say there are a number of non-uniform stair cases, unexpected changes and dropoffs throughout, but in my opinion this is to be expected in an old building like this.
If the accessibility notes aren’t a concern I would recommend this place to get a taste of quiet and more...

This was a lovely place to spend a short scuba diving vacation on the Izu Peninsula. The ocean views from my room were fantastic. The room was spacious and comfortable.

It was AMAZING! My friend and I stayed for one night and it was the highlight of our entire trip in Japan. The food was incredible, the staff were extremely nice and helpful and attentive. And of course the onsens were immaculate. Everything was top tier, would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a classic Japanese experience but with modern comforts and breathtaking views!!

Absolutely lovely. Felt like I was staying with family. Quick walk to the gorgeous beach, next to a beautiful shrine, and a short walk from a delicious Ramen place. Not to mention the Onsen!!! What a magical experience it was to enjoy the outdoors and soak. And last but not least the breakfast! Felt like my mom made me lunch for the day.
Absolutely would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

We showed up early (2 hrs) and the staff was still able to accommodate us and hold bags. We got lucky in this…wouldn’t recommend planning for it. This is a small hotel (possible four rooms) but a fantastic value and comfort. The staff member was very polite and spoke good English to help us enjoy our stay in Kofu. Thank you!
