This is the couch from freud's house and now museum. This is where psychoanalytic therapy started. Where "modern psychology began." for us psychologist and therapist Freud is considered the one of the founding father's of psychology. Although his ideas are antiquated now, even proven wrong in a lot of cases, it is a place where I found myself in awe of my surroundings and thinking back on what I have leaned. It is an immense and eerie feeling seeing this couch, the couch he analyzed dreams, diagnosed hysteria, and developed the four stages of development. He started the movement that made the unconscious known and what you think in your mind be what drives you. Walking around his house and looking at the extensive literature, his collection of Egyptian and other ancient artifacts truly gave me a feeling of what it may have been like in 1890s' to visit someone who could tell you why you feel the way you do and what to do about it. If you are in London and doing the museums, it's one I would add to the list.
