"I stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort from April 11–16, and overall, the experience was mixed. The resort itself is very large and beautifully decorated, but it could really benefit from clearer maps and better signage—getting around wasn’t always easy. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Many staff members, especially at check-in and the front desk, were not very friendly or helpful, and it felt like additional training is needed in those areas. There were also some issues with the room. I encountered two roaches—one in the room and one in the closet. While I understand that insects can be common in the Caribbean, I didn’t expect to find them inside the room. When I reported it, the response was disappointing, as I was simply told housekeeping could come again, with no real resolution offered. That said, a few standout employees completely turned things around for me. Domingo and Claribel at the adults-only pool bar were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Felix at the late-night restaurant, The Valley, was also fantastic. Without these three individuals, my experience would have been significantly worse. In short, while the resort looks great, service and guest support need improvement and the rules around the adults only pool need to be revisted. Out of the days I was there there was only entertainment at the pool one day. The staff members mentioned above were the highlight of the stay and made a big difference."

"Clean rooms, grounds are beautiful. Food is just okay. Drinks are very good. Pool and beach area absolutely stunning. However no direct drink/food service at the beach. Buffet food is basic. Only good restaurants are the steakhouse and Japanese. Must make restaurant reservations the night before. "

"Overall, it was nice. The beach was beautiful, the grounds were lovely, but the food was average and the drinks were overly sugary. Take this with a grain of salt—it was my first all-inclusive. I expected more to actually be included. Some extras felt unreasonable: $5 USD for a coconut, and $50 USD/day for beachfront daybeds that mostly sit empty while everyone else stares at the back of them. Poor design—either include them or integrate them better. We were supposed to have a concierge via WhatsApp, which never happened. We also had “Level” wristbands through Expedia—fine if included, but not worth paying extra. It mostly gave access to one additional restaurant and a spa circuit (hot tub, sauna, steam room). The “upgraded” room wasn’t better, and there was no enhanced concierge. The voucher system was confusing and poorly explained. At checkout, staff refused to honor a voucher despite clear terms—only resolved after escalating to a manager. Not a great final impression. Dinner reservations were messy (2/5 nights had conflicting info), and with no concierge support, we had to sort it out ourselves. Service overall was slow and inconsistent. Skip the Asian restaurant—everything tastes the same. Would I go back? Maybe. Would I look for something better? Definitely. "

"Flora was very clean, well maintained & most of the staff was extremely pleasant whether they were getting tipped or not. The beach was beautiful & we really didn’t have much trouble finding seats/towels no matter what time we arrived - beach or pool. Drinks were great & the kids were able to go to any of the (swim up) bars & obtain beverages on own. There were also community items/floats etc. The food, to our surprise, was quite good & there were many fruit surprises / special drink station ‘extras’. No resvs needed @ most rests. Late 9pm daily shows but were great. Visiting birds @ buffet were annoying but could be shoed away w napkins. Definitely bring bug spray as many bugs w/in the lush surroundings; esp by the hibachi rest…& it’s $$$ to buy there! The water slides were a great bonus area that aren’t showcased enough in the marketing for this hotel; w that beware that unless you are a ‘preferred’ guest; you are ltd in which pools/rests/towels etc you can use. Expedia misrepresented the $ ‘hotel credit’ that you ONLY receive if you sit thru what is equivalent to a timeshare presentation (90 mins - which we did not) & also will be hearing from me as our airport transport NEVER SHOWED UP to return us to the airport after we were confirmed the day prior (it was also a mess to get TO our hotel). You’d assume booking the transfer thru Expedia is the safer bet but just pay for a taxi, it’s cheaper. Finally find Joli/older lady on beach for $40 massage. Sketchy but worth it. "
