Assistant Carlos - I asked to make restaurant reservations for 6-7pm, we are 2 little kids, like 3 weeks before arriving, somehow he scheduled for 7:45, 8:45 etc. Rooms are old, wet inside, ACs leaking, 2 times issues with safebox. Need restoration. Staff do not speaking minimum English language. For the same amount of money, we had much better experience in another Punta Cana hotel.

It was a family trip, and in our case, it wasn't the best experience. They need to improve customer service, especially providing information at check-in. There was little variety of food, and it was poorly prepared. The service at the buffet was poor.

Very big property. Very good places enjoy vacation. I think they have to do whoever want to go to shopping outside of resorts, they have arranged car with fix time and safety. The property was fine, but there were a lot of issues. Pool tiles were broken and missing throughout the pool. The rooms weren’t the cleanest, and there was a sewage-like smell that we frequently experienced. Dining was a disaster, with reservations only being available from 10:45 pm or later, and only on the final days of our trip. We eventually were able to get a couple of reservations, but it took hours of discussion with guest services. The buffets were honestly some of the worst we’ve experienced in 17 years of going to the Dominican Republic. Aside from the food, there were long lines for everything and machines that regularly stopped working. Most of the staff were really nice, and tried very hard. There were a few folks, however, that were rude with very interaction throughout our stay. In the end, I had a nice time being on vacation, and it was great to see family, but I have no plans to return to this property on my next trip to the DR. Other Barcelo properties I’ve visited have been really good, but I can’t recommend this one, especially when there are so many other wonderful options in the area.

The restaurants were fully booked every night, it wasn’t convenient to make reservations since they don’t allow reservations to be made while booking the vacation. We didn't get to try any of them except the steakhouse. The only times available (sometimes) were between 9:30-10:30 and they recommended going to see them periodically throughout the day to see if people had cancelled their reservations. We tried tha and there was barely cancellations but when we walked by the restaurants they weren’t crowded. When we finally got a a reservation to the steakhouse the food was cold and looked exactly like the food from the buffet. Other than that the resort itself was beautiful and had tons of fun at the pool and beach. Most of the staff was friendly. Resort is huge so a lot of walking!

The property overall seemed clean, our room was cleaned daily. The shower did have some moldy spots. There was an electrical outlet that was hanging out of the wall. The food was starting to taste like plastic towards the middle of the week. The buffet selection was the same every day. It would have been nice to have food carts or lunch grab and go spots around the pool so you didn’t have to go into the buffet for lunch. Drinks were plentiful and they never ran out of anything. People saving seats by the pool and never using the em was annoying. I became a member and was assigned a concierge who never helped with any of my requests. That was disappointing. I actually had two concierge representatives neither one of them were able to follow through with my request which were very simple. The beach and pools are beautiful. The staff was professional and helpful. The family duplex room was clean and large enough for our family of 5. We did bring an air mattress because they do not do roll away beds for the duplex rooms and my sons are big teens who do not like to share a bed. Also, the family duplex rooms are in the furthest building from the pools and beach, so be prepared to walk a bit each day. They do offer a shuttle but it was a bit of a wait so we usually ended up walking. The food in the buffets was alright, not amazing but we all found something! The restaurants were great if you can get reservations (try as soon as you arrive!) The only issue we had was that there wasn't much to do after 7pm and our teens were a little bored with the sports bar or the nightly show/entertainment being the only options. There was bowling and video games for a fee, but the space was small and crowded. Bring some things for teens to do after dinner!

I had an excellent stay. The buffet was one of the best I’ve seen, a ton of variety in classic Dominican food was a plus. Beach and pool were very clean. The resort is very well kept, modern, great option in stores if you need to grab anything you forgot to take. Staff was amazing— especially entertainment, David, made us feel at home during our stay. The resort is huge, so there is a lot of walking— take comfortable shoes for those walks to/from the rooms. Overall, I will give my stay 5 stars, I have no complaints and I had such a great time I will be returning to this hotel. I recommend it 100%.

Expanding the food options—especially with more international selections—would enhance the experience. Adding something like a hibachi station would be a great addition. We had a junior suite, which was clean and spacious with a patio hot tub, king size bed, and dual sinks. We had Premium Level, which allowed access to the breakfast buffet at the less busy Santa Fe restaurant. The beach was kept clean of sea weed and we enjoyed the water and the kayaks. The evening shows were entertaining.
