"First visit to the Royal Hotel and I’m sure we’ll be back. Great restaurant and bar areas. Had a great time at one of their events. Stayed overnight in a cosy double, clean and everything you need in a room. Might be too small if you are there for a week. Parking behind the hotel at £6 per 24 hours. Good WiFi. "

"Check in very impersonal - check in via machine, 2 staff stood there don't even say hello or lift their heads or wish you an enjoyable stay. Room very dark, would not be able to work at desk due to this. Otherwise fine, comfy bed, good location."

"We stayed at the Hilton York several occasions but this time was different. We haven't been since the refurbishment. The receptionist was very polite. The rooms were immaculate and the food was incredible. In fact next time we go will be eating dinner at the hotel overall five star."

"Friendly and helpful staff at front desk and on the door. Sadly the staff in the 1906 bar left a lot to be desired. Great location, a short walk to the train station and into the town centre."
