RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto

"Great location, not too far from the train station, but because of the heat, it was a bit unbearable to walk with luggages. They actually provide a shuttle from the train station to the hotel, which we found out after the fact. The hotel is very nice and had a modern feel to it. My favorite was their breakfast. We had a choice to either go to the buffet, which had amazing selections of both International and Japanese food or go to the rotating restaurant with amazing view that serves international breakfast. We tried both during our stay and loved it very much. I would go back and stay there again."

"We were 3 adults and the 3-bedroom room was decent and Spacious enough. AC kept us cool and we had nearly all the things we needed EXCEPT for an adequate fridge, which was small and did not get cold enough to keep food viable to the next day. Also the room lacked a handy microwave but there was one for the whole hotel on the 1st floor. Washing your clothes for a fee, an Ice maker and a filtered water dispenser were all the other amenities you can expect. The bathroom was good enough with hot and pressurized water. We paid for breakfast, which was worth it as it is an open buffet style providing Western and Japanese-style cuisines. Noodles, miso soup, juices, hot beverages, eggs, sausages, cereal, fruits, Macha mochis, Beef Curry, croissants...etc etc... it is the same food every day, but thanks to the variety, you can sample a lot of variations. Location was not the best ..about 20 mins walk from Kyoto station but the region is peaceful and quiet. You can walk to a bus stop in about 7-10 mins. What was a great touch was the Free drinks offered to guests from 14h30 to 23h00 every day. You have juice, water, soup, coffee, Tea and even SAKE...yup free of charge and all you want. Was very handy, especially with the super hot Japanese summer days. All in all well worth the stay if you are looking for a moderate price range...and if you are on Expedia's Silver tier, you can get this great place for a steal"

"This place was great - amazing value. Great location, breakfast buffet, staff. One thing that would be VERY useful is if they provided a pillow-topper or something similar and left it in the closet to use. Japanese mattresses are HARD (a small step up from sleeping on the floor)."
