"The hotel is a bit old. It's great if you're looking to stay in a property with a historical aspect. Check-in was troubling. I don't recall on the Hotel's description here on Expedia or on their own website that the deposit was $400 up front. I stayed for 6 days so that should have been around $170. "I stayed here 10+ years ago and it looks like they haven’t done anything to it to maintain. Some broken fixtures and major wear and tear. The fabric chairs in the lobby are so incredibly dirty and worn out. The rooms have chipped paint and stains on the ceilings. The cleaners aren’t cleaning the mugs and only wiping them out, the counters in the room were sticky. I bought some Clorox wipes and cleaned the room and bathroom after they came in and cleaned it. "The front desk clerk went out of his way to put us in a room as far from the cacophony of noise from the hotel strikers across the street. It was one of the smaller rooms, but very little noise could be heard. This is one of our favorite boutique hotels in San Francisco. It is located near the Powell Street station, Union Square, the Moscone Center and numerous dining options."
