"The hotel is huge and has its own mini plaza with some restaurants, cafes and spa. It is away from the crowds of cannery row which meant there is lots of space to walk. It is 5 minutes walk from fisherman's wharf with some really good restaurants as well as others on the opposite side. We absolutely loved the place and would definitely go back."

"We loved our stay at The Monterey Hotel! The building has beautiful historic charm with modern comforts—clean, cozy rooms, comfortable beds, and a friendly, welcoming staff. The location is unbeatable—right in downtown Monterey, within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We didn’t use our car once! Morning coffee and pastries were a nice touch, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend for couples or anyone looking to experience the heart of Monterey."

"I loved having a separate bedroom with the ocean view room. Closed the door and didn't have to worry about early risers walking by the room, waking me up at 6AM. Several pillow styles available on the bed. Found one with low fill. I can't sleep with the overstuffed pillows that most hotels use. We walked about two blocks to the beach with a stop at Starbucks on the way. You'll have to walk past Home Depot. Not great if your wife is wearing a bikini, lols. The construction workers will absolutely slow down and get an eye full as they drive by. Waiting at the crosswalk was a minor inconvenience. Other than that it was a great stay."
