I recently stayed at SLS Playa Mujeres and unfortunately left very disappointed overall. For a property marketed as a five-star luxury resort, too many details were missed, and in hospitality, the small details are what separate a true luxury experience from an average one. One of my biggest frustrations was not being informed upfront about the “elite” upgrade package option. Whether intentional or not, it created the feeling that there was always another tier you were expected to pay for in order to get the “real” experience. Even then, from what I could tell, the differences didn’t seem substantial enough to justify it. The room details were surprisingly underwhelming. For a family of four, the snack setup consisted of a single pack of Skittles and two small packs of Chips Ahoy. That may sound minor, but those are exactly the types of thoughtful touches guests expect from a luxury resort — and they were simply absent here. The food was mediocre at best, and nearly every dining experience felt designed to push expensive upgrades. You already pay a premium to stay at the resort, yet somehow you constantly feel nickel-and-dimed. One dinner ended up costing me $250 for a steak and another $300 for a bottle of wine. By the end of the trip, I had spent more on meal “add-ons” than the actual cost of my four-day, three-night stay. The price gouging was excessive and honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. Lo mejor fue haber decidido celebrar mi cumpleaños en este lugar junto a mi pareja. Sin embargo, lo NO TAN BUENO es que no se brinda información clara desde el inicio: ninguno de los restaurantes especiales tenía disponibilidad ni opciones de reserva. Considero que esto debería informarse al momento de confirmar la estadía. En nuestro caso, habíamos reservado con más de dos semanas de anticipación, lo que nos habría permitido gestionar estas reservas sin inconvenientes. Como resultado, nos vimos obligados a “celebrar” durante los tres días en los restaurantes regulares, como cualquier otro huésped, lo cual fue bastante decepcionante considerando la ocasión especial. Quisiera destacar positivamente al joven que atendía en la playa: sumamente servicial, amable y siempre con una gran sonrisa. Asimismo, la persona encargada de la habitación fue excelente, muy atenta y eficiente en todo momento. The property looks nice but for a so-called 5 star resort lacks attention to details. The pools, restaurants and food are great which give a luxurious feel but the remaining amenities are average. We had a 4 night stay and kids activities like Zipline and Rock climbing were unavailable during the entire stay which raises questions about their family friendliness. Our 6 yo soon got bored after couple of days of pools and beach. We had mentioned our kids birthday celebration on our reservation and there was absolutely no acknowledgement when we entered the room which was disappointing. They never replenished in-room snacks during the entire stay. The rooms have a silly see through glass separating the bathroom which causes privacy issues for a family room. The wider good areas of the beach are reserved for elite guests and they sat empty. Rest of the guests were crowded in a narrow strip of the beach. A 5 star all-inclusive family resort needs to provide better service. I'll skip this one the next time.

All is well until the hotel decided to host Passover for about 1500 people that were coming in and started shutting down our accommodations. We ended up with three restaurants left on our last two days because they were accommodating the group coming in. They also forgot about their regular guest and were more attentive for the ones coming in, which was very disappointing.

This was a sub par stay for me maybe because I stayed during the week. Drinks at the bar were basic - the Lotus restaurant was disgusting. The Steak house was better but still just ok. Room service options are ok. Overall if you’ve never really been anywhere or experienced all inclusive, this is a basic start. If you’re traveling with kids this would be ideal - the kids amenities are decent.

Loved our stay at SLS. All of the staff were amazing especially the bartenders in the Monkey Bar and in the pool bar. The staff bringing drinks on the beach were amazing as well and work so hard. The sand was great, the lounge chairs were fantastic and plentiful. Not a resort where you have to get up at 6am and save spots. Also, no towel cards, amazing and please never change it. The food at Ziggys was amazing, best guacamole ever. The booked restaurants were hit and miss, the Mexican food was not great, and most of the restaurants take 2 hours to eat and the food comes warm at best. The really only complaint was the music by the adult pool. It’s never ending overly loud and no one wants techno and house music from 10am-4pm. We just want to relax by the pool and on the beach. You can’t even drown out the music with headphones. I heard so many complaints by so many people, we asked but nothing was ever done about it. It’s ok to party by the pool but no one was into the music being played. Other than that, would highly recommend, but if the music doesn’t change it would probably stop us returning to this resort it was that bad.
