Platinum Yucatan Princess Adults Only - All Inclusive
2/10 Terrible
"The rooms smelt terrible. The food was gross. We only ate dinner there one night the second night we ended up leaving the resort to get dinner because the food was cold. They served me ice cold soup. We tried to check out, but they wouldn’t refund the rest of our stay even though we agreed to pay for the two nights we were there, they just offered to switch our rooms. We went to Walmart and bought a fan and plug-ins to try to make it smell better. For this to be rated a five star resort is laughable. We will never come back here again. Expedia was supposed to get back to us within 24 hours to let us check out and never did. "
"Room was clean, no elevator so be aware, only 2 bar locations, 2 small pools, and alot of stairs. Food was absolutely horrible compared to other resorts we have stayed, bed was old and in roigh shape.
Other then that is was fairly calm."
Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"I heard this was a "budget" Resort, but we have stayed at much higher end resorts and this blew them out of the water! Excellent staff, many great restaurants to choose from, the bike excursion to town was excellent. Zero complaints about anything at this Resort. Teens were entertained and loved it. Would absolutely NOT go to the 90 minute presentation for their travel club unless genuinely interested. It was way longer than 90 minutesand wasted half our day."
"Mom & 17yo teen thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at ORP. Standard junior suite room w/ garden view.
Pros: attentive & friendly staff (kudos to Aylin from Guest Services and William from entertainment), attractive & well maintained property; variety of food & pool options; stylish & spacious rooms; kid-friendly activities, facilities, & entertainment.
Cons: bathroom mold in otherwise visibly clean rooms; mixed food quality; lack of activities/entertainment for adults.
The positives at this beautiful resort far outweigh the few negatives. Good pick for travelers focused on comfort, relaxation, & value for the price. Great place to stay with young children, as even the basic junior suite is spacious. Adjacent sitting room area has a couch and desk. The garden view was attractive with lush greenery. Felt very private. Decor is stylish and bright. In general the room was well cleaned. However, I was dismayed that from the jetted tub (itself a major plus) there was a direct view of under the bathroom sink, showing about 4-6 inches of wall space which was covered in black mold across the length of the counter bottom. I would never have noticed this except from that vantage using the tub. Granted, it's a humid environment, so not hard to understand how this happens quickly but hopefully the hotel will take extra steps to check for this.
My teen daughter and I were looking for a restful experience, which ORP definitely provided. Top notch, friendly service."
"This property is great I think if it is your first time at an all inclusive resort. The hotel itself is not on the beach directly, you have to cross the street or take the hotel tunnel underneath to go to the sea, it's a short walk. I say sea bc there is not a beach style entry into the ocean here. It is very rocky and has stairs to use. The snorkeling is pretty decent here and we loved the "ocean pools" there is two of them. When we were here there was a TON of divers, and they had a great fire show as entertainment one night. As for entertainment that was all I really did enjoy here. The room was a bit dirty when we checked in, we actually cleaned all the counter tops ourselves and when we needed towels we had to go and request them 2X. Alexis at guest services was very helpful with that. The front desk staff was also great. The young man and women who work in the on site coffee shop were phenomenal and so was the coffee! (Not part of the all inclusive, unfortunately, but worth it for sure!) The service here left a lot to be desired as far as the wait staff and having to ask for a room cleaning one of the days, pool big and decent, drinks decent, bartenders were very friendly. "

"Staff was extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make our vacation special. Booking trips off the resort was easy and ALL the food we had was excellent! Would stay here again, definitely liked having the heated pool in the excellence club. "
