A little far to the nearest subway station, 7-Eleven or restaurants. But to be fair, the ‘a little far’ I referred to technically is not too far (less than 10 min walk to subway, 5 min to 7-Eleven and not too many restaurants nearby), just not as close as some other hotels we stayed in in Japan. Two downsides to the rental - loud at night and very VERY low ceilings on the narrow staircase to the two floors. You will hit your head every time if you are taller than 4'3". "We love staying here. The location is excellent!!! Basically walking distance everywhere. The hotel itself is beautiful, feels peaceful even when packed with people. There is a rather large and comfy seating area in the lobby. They have coffee and tea available all day. The breakfast is the absolute best and not to be missed. Very convenient way to fuel right before taking those 20k steps all over Kyoto. They provide umbrellas for rainy days. I think they have bikes as well. The bedrooms...

"We loved the hotel, nice decoration, friendly staff, ice cream was available during our stay, yakult was available during breakfast. Ramen was more like seafood broth not soya base, food was delicious until we got diarrhea. We ate our breakfast at 6:30, by 1pm we felt unwell, I would stay here again but may not want the breakfast. "
