I can only comment on the central SJC area and not the resort hotel strip other areas - enjoyed learning about their history and checking out the square and surrounding streets. This area is geared towards tourists and yet it has a small town feel.

San Jose is much more laid back than Cabo San Lucas. The downtown area has a ton to see and dining galore. Next time we go we'll be staying downtown to do a lot of walking and dining out. Baja Brewing is a highlight.

Quaint, charming, enjoyable in most ways. But too many of the businesses are catering to American tourists and asking exorbitant prices. It used to be much more affordable. Food especially is outrageously expensive.

Check out the art walk on Thursday night. Book private boats to tour the ocean. Whether it's for fishing or whale watching. I found it cheaper and more comfortable. If you fish check with the resort first if you can bring some back to have cooked up.

More traditional (and quieter) than the hustle and bustle of the Cabo Marina District. Very good restaurants in the San Jose El Centro area as well as other nearby places such as Acre and Flora Springs. Cabo Azul is always a GREAT resort to choose.
