"This place has a great location at what is the end of the La Fortuna waterfall road. There is easy access to lots of restaurants and activities. The staff is great and very responsive. Breakfast is included, and was very good. However, breakfast is not on-site. It is walkable, but steeply downhill. The drive is short. The service at breakfast was welcoming and friendly. The property appears to be undergoing significant renovation, and will surely be lovely when complete. We stayed in villas 11 and 12 as two couples. Both are walled with windows. 11 has minimal outdoor space, while 12 had none. There were no screens on any window or door in the villas, but bugs were generally not a problem. The shower in number 11 was powerful and had good hot water. The pool that you may see in the pictures is the private pool of one of the other villas. There was no construction noise or hassle while we were there. This was quiet and lovely place to stay on the edge of town. "

"We just stayed at the Fortuna Retreat for 3 nights with our kids. We had a premium room with mountain view. I wanted to start by saying that the service was excellent even from before we reached the hotel. The communication with them was pretty fast. Thank you to Beverley and Alphonso for making our stay amazing and being very helful. For the price we paid, we just wished they had more amenities. It would have been nice to have some body cream and at least some tissues in the rooms. We didn't check properly before we booked but it would have been nice to have a king bed for the price and there was plenty of space avaliable for one. "

"If you want to wake up to the sound of birds singing and a large walking path through the jungle without all the crowds - this is the hotel for you. Our stay at Hotel Faro Arenal was absolutely fantastic, from the amazing staff to the delicious food. Our cabin was comfortable and cozy, with plenty of fresh linens and towels and our own personal AC unit that worked so well (but was often not needed thanks to the shade from the surrounding trees and large personal porch to relax). We loved the location, centrally located to La Fortuna and the national parks and adventure zones, while remaining quiet and surrounded by friendly locals and backed onto protected land. What a beautiful oasis. We can't wait to be back. "
