So worth the trip to see how the ancient Japanese lived. These are the last of the old style houses
The smell of woodsmoke lingers in these ancient dwellings. It really takes you back to another era. The every day tools and habits of these ancient people are fascinating to learn about. Not many people there on the day we visited. Nice to escape the bustle of the city and enjoy the gardens
What a beautiful way to learn about historic Japan. The grounds are vast. The gardens are lush. Wear good walking shoes and consider bringing a picnic lunch

Large hotel room. Clean. Lots of room. Great shower. You can hear people walking around in the room above. The floor was paper thin and you could hear every step. Had to re-wash clothing after using the washing machine. It left everything very musty smelling, could use a cleaning cycle. The location was 15-20 minutes walk to train station, shopping, tourist stuff.
