Cayucos State Beach Tours

Cayucos State Beach featuring a beach
Known for its old wooden fishing pier, this lovely beach is the heart of the traditional town.  Come here for a delightful family day out.

Cayucos State Beach stretches in front of the charming town of Cayucos. With its spacious strip of perfect white sand and its historic wooden fishing pier jutting out into the rolling surf, the beach provides a pleasant oceanside outing. Wade into the chilly waters, go rock-pooling, try surfing and amble along the pier for spectacular coastal views.

The little beach town of Cayucos is fronted by its very own beach. The town itself is steeped in history, with many old Western-style buildings housing antique shops. One of the most impressive historic structures is Cass Wharf, the charming old fishing pier built by Captain James Cass in 1875. Grab a rod and cast a line from here fishing is permitted day and night without a license. As you wait for a fish to bite, admire the views across the town, the rolling hills and far along the coastline.

Back on the beach, kick off your shoes, dig your toes in the sand and, if you can brave the chilly waters, wade in for a refreshing time. The beach is popular with surfers and a great place to try to ride the Pacific waves. Swimming, diving and kayaking are also popular sports here. Alternatively, paddle in Cayucos Creek, which often flows across the sand just north of the pier During the summer, lifeguards are stationed here, ensuring beachgoers are kept safe.

Enjoy a family day out on Cayucos State Beach. Take a picnic and make use of the picnic tables, barbecues and children’s play area. After eating, spend a few hours searching the tide pools for fascinating sea creatures.

Cayucos State Beach spans the length of the town and can be accessed via the highway. Pay to park along Ocean Front Avenue or Ocean Avenue. The beach has plentiful facilities including restrooms. While here, indulge in an old-fashioned ice cream from one of the parlors or enjoy a seafood meal in a quaint sea-facing restaurant.
