La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Paso Robles

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Paso Robles

8/10 Good
"Well located if you have a car, rooms are relatively large and very clean, and once you figure out the layout of the hallways you can park very close to your room (card key is needed 24 hours a day if you are not entering via the main lobby). Self-service breakfast is filling and has something for everyone. Didn't take advantage of the happy hour, but it was far more popular than I've encountered at most hotels of this level. We had the basic king with mini-fridge and microwave and that was perfect for us. We also had our dog, and this is a place where you don't have to feel like you are sneaking your pet in. Obviously you can't bring the dog to the happy hour or the breakfast (both are in the same space) but it's not a problem entering or exiting by any of the accesses. There's a strip of grass along the fence separating the parking lot and the highway, and while I wasn't super cool initially with walking the dog within a short distance of the high speed traffic, in reality it's all quite safe. I deducted the one star because it would have been nicer to have a more open spot of grass to stretch your dog's 4 legs (there a dirt lot on the southwest side of the property, but I wondered if it had puncture AKA goathead vine, which is common in Paso empty lots). I didn't try it, but based on a quick look I thought the road just north of the property ("Experimental Station") would make for a nice dog walk, Would stay again if the price is right, Nick in Palm Springs"

"This is a lovely motel. Loved parking right next to the room. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Next stay, I will request the 2nd floor as you really need to leave the windows open and being on the first floor means you are open to the parking lot and anyone walking by. The ocean is steps away and even though the fires were burning in Big Sur, the ocean breeze carried the smoke away."
