The Northshore Hotel - Boston/Danvers

The Northshore Hotel - Boston/Danvers

8/10 Good
"The location was a bit hard to find given it was literally right off the highway. We missed it a couple of times. Not the easiest to get in. The room was really large and clean (other than a dirty towel left in the bathroom, which they came to clean up quickly and apologies profusely). The charging lamps did not work so they had to bring us an extension cord. There was lots of parking which was great. The breakfast was ok. They only had coffee. Not great for people who would prefer tea. Overall, I would stay there again. It was very close to Salem, which is what we wanted."

"The room was very quiet and clean. When one of our neighbors started smoking cigarettes or a cigar we called the desk and they IMMEDIATELY took care of it thankfully! Staff was extremely friendly!"

"After a long day of travel, being welcomed with complimentary chilled Prosecco in a real glass champagne flute was a classy way to kick off our stay. While we checked in, our boys enjoyed a game of tic-tac-toe by the fireplace—a cozy first impression. The inn is beautiful and regal, and we loved its rich history and character. Some of the carpeting could use a refresh, but our room was clean and comfortable. The steamer/iron worked perfectly, which we especially appreciated since we were in town for a campus tour and wanted to look presentable! Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a bit of a wait for coffee and a few items, including the bacon, but the chef explained that with school back in session, they were working with a smaller staff. We appreciated the explanation and enjoyed the meal. One amusing surprise was the music. We heard ’90s rock from check-in until around 10 p.m. and again around 7 a.m. the next morning. Given the inn’s historic character and connection to the school, we assumed it was coming from the student dorms and wondered why no one had asked the students to turn it down. Then, at breakfast, we discovered the music was actually coming from the hotel’s dining room! My husband and I found the music choice an interesting juxtaposition to such a historic New England inn. We thought classical music might have complemented the atmosphere beautifully. Still, it certainly made for a memorable experience."
