"We spent a week at the historic Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown Core. Based on the reviews, I thought it would be a great choice. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building, but be cautious about room location. We initially stayed on the third floor near a window, and at night we could clearly hear loud music from a nearby bar, as well as church bells early in the morning. The staff was very kind and moved us to the second floor, but unfortunately there was an unbearable sewage smell coming from the shower drain. We were told this can happen because the hotel is very old and related to the pipes. Once again, the staff accommodated us and moved us—this time to the first floor. The first-floor room had no odor and no noise, and was much more comfortable. I am always very careful with water in Mexico and used bottled water even to brush my teeth. However, after returning home, I developed a UTI, which I believe may have been related to the shower water. I can’t say this with certainty, but it’s worth mentioning for travelers who are sensitive. The rooms were clean, and the staff was exceptional throughout our stay. On our second night, my husband developed a fever, and the night attendant kindly went out to a store to bring us medicine — something we truly appreciated. We also had spa treatments at the hotel, and they were excellent — relaxing, professional, and a highlight of our stay. The restaurant in the hotel is very good as well. Final thoughts: "

"This hotel was a huge disappointment from the moment we checked in. The room was dirty and felt very old and poorly maintained. The bathroom was especially bad—the toilet and sink made loud, unpleasant noises every time they were used, and the shower was visibly dirty. My daughter’s room had a leak, and while maintenance did come to fix it, they left standing water behind as if it was our responsibility to clean it up. That was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. On top of that, the coffee machine was dusty, and the mini fridge was downright nasty. Basic cleanliness clearly isn’t a priority here. To make matters worse, it took an entire day to get fresh towels, even after going to the front desk multiple times to request them. The lack of responsiveness and attention to guests’ needs was unacceptable. Overall, this was a very poor experience, and I would not recommend staying here."

"Rooms are amazing. Pool is amazing. Most of the staff is good too. Food for Vegetarians is average. Nothing wows you. Even the basic italian stuff is not done correctly, the pizza is a disappointment considering how easy it can be. They really need to work on the quality of their desserts too. Its plain mediocre. A fellow meat eater couple resonated with us as well. Spa is decent. Its a decent place if not paying high season rates "
