"The driveway to the property was treacherous - I wish they had made us more aware of how challenging it was to drive up it even in a 4x4 and had other options clearly spelled out in the emails of if there was another place to park and walk up just for safety reasons. We almost didn’t make it and had tires spinning and it was a very scary and rough start to our Drakes Bay stay. Plus it is a long drive on tough roads to Drakes Bay and then to have the last 100 meters be one of the toughest parts was unfortunate.
We stayed in the house and heads up the bathroom is downstairs from the sleeping rooms and outside in the patio area so it was a little nerve wracking to walk down there at night."
"The lodge is wonderful, serving staff are top rank . Its spotlessly clean and stylish, the food is of a high standard and portions very generous. Good coffee available also .
The lodge is surrounded by rainforest teeming with life ....birds / lizards/ monkeys/ frogs/ spiders. I have a particular interest in phoneutria sp ....wandering spiders and saw many at night ....such impressive spiders....and shy and calm........wanted to see them for many years, and danta made a reality.
Its definitely worth booking a night walk with juan...he is very knowledgeable about the local wildlife .....and the taxi service danta lays on is excellent and a lovely lady who greets you .
My only thought is that a swimming pool would have been the icing on the cake .....and i would of given it 5 stars ......as it stands this lodge still gets a sllid 4.5 stars .

"The cabina had an extra extraordinary view.
We loved that the bedrooms were closed off and did have air conditioning, but that the rest of the unit was completely open
The house cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning every morning
I had laundry done, and it was very reasonably priced and done very well
The unit is within walking distance to almost everything but best of all the beach is right there!"
"Properties located in a rainforest. There is a really beautiful property. Restaurant is great the food is amazing. Stop is really really accommodating and nice. However it is expensive at about $1200-$1300 a night, when you include the food and stay.. The only problem is that it does not have air conditioning. With the hot and humid weather not having air conditioning creates a big problem. When guests are not getting good sleep, they are not able to enjoy their day and that was a problem for us too. Her daughter was under slept the whole week, and she was cranky in the evenings. I would think that a property of this price range should offer air conditioning to the guests. I would not be returning to this property because of that issue."
"The welcome by being collected on the beach and having our luggage taken to the room was a nice touch. The room itself was clean and the view was gorgeous.
We were disappointed with the general service, particularly in the hotels restaurant. We booked a table on the first evening and it wasn't ready when we arrived, with the staff seeming stressed at our arrival. We were sat down 15 minutes late and the food took over an hour to arrive, during which time we were not visited once by the staff and the tables around us were left dirty. This was despite the restaurant being quite empty close to the end of service.
There wasn't many staff available on site to talk to, and it felt like quite an inconvenience to them when you had a request. This does not include the girl who was volunteering with the hotel who was very helpful."
