"We had a disappointing stay overall. It was quite challenging to make a dinner reservation, and unfortunately, we regretted dining there. We were seated near families with young children, so the atmosphere was not as relaxing as we had hoped due to the constant noise and screaming. We would have appreciated being informed in advance that the dining area was very family-oriented so we could have decided whether it suited the experience we were looking for. The food was also quite expensive and ultimately underwhelming, as the flavors were lacking. The private onsen was more like a one-person bath on the balcony rather than a traditional private onsen experience, though it was enjoyable nonetheless. The room itself was clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, the in-room amenities and products were more limited than what we have experienced at less expensive hotels. Overall, no one asked about our experience or whether we had enjoyed our stay. There was also construction near the hotel, and we did not see any notice about the noise when booking. As a result, it would have been difficult to enjoy the outside bath during the day. For a hotel of this caliber and at this price point, we were quite disappointed and will not be returning to any Indigo Hotels in the future."

"We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. Our room was very clean and well appointed. My husband and I had separate single beds - not sure if I made a mistake with the booking or if that was standard. The location of the hotel is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. There was a shuttle bus from the local train station which we didn’t know until a couple of days before our trip. The included teppinyaki dinner was one of our favourite dinners in our whole time in Japan. No tattoos allowed in the public baths, but the private bath was perfect for me. "

"This is a fantastic hotel with so much history. The staff were so lovely and accommodating and the facilities with the onsen, the garden, the bar, the lounge- everything is so lovely. They even upgraded our room view which was very nice. The only odd thing was a particular waitress that were serving us in the Japanese restaurant and also in the breakfast hall the next day. She was insistent on us buying a sake pairing when we didn’t want to. For the breakfast she also insisted we buy the breakfast package even though we had already ordered something else. I also found it odd that she gave us the bill before we had finished eating and she seemed to forget about our breakfast for 40 minutes. Other than that, it was absolutely amazing. The rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and professional. "
