「Very good value. Excellent parking. Staff friendly and helpful when available. Bed comfortable and clean. The fan worked well but lacked its remote control. WiFi signal in the (courtyard) room weak. A smart television with streamer access and stations beyond Freeview would have been appreciated. Had a terrific meal and wine in the restaurant followed by a pleasant walk along a quiet road into Miskin village afterwards. I would happily return.」

「As soon as I checked in, friendly lovely staff members let me check in a bit early which helped as I had heavy suitcase and I got my room straight. They gave me recommendations for food nearby too which was really helpful as I wasn’t sure what was good local foods. If you want a place to stay in Barry this is it for sure. And one other positive right next to the Barry station within good walking distance.」

「This was our first time staying at a hotel that wasn't staffed. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodations were very modern. Plenty of hot water. Easy access to both train and bus stations. Walking distance to a variety of restaurants and grocery stores. Quiet. We didn't hear street noise. Stairs are steep, as others have noted. 「Stayed here 2 nights as I was attending nearby Festival. I Called Les the host and he was very accommodating leaving my keys in the safe box. The room was clean and housekeeping came daily. The bed was very Comfortable i had 2 really good night sleep here. Bayside is right next to the beach which was a bonus as it was a warm bank holiday weekend. Definitely recommend a stay here.」

Fine breakfast but only instant freeze dried coffee, and few options if you don't want a fry up. Immediate area full of litter on streets (like most of Barry). I know this isn't their fault but it's a location point. Overall a fine place to stay but I'm surprised current reviews are quite so high -- afterall, a warm and friendly welcome should be expected...
