"We booked the "punk room" for three nights at the beginning of our stay in Scotland. We ended up in room 209, which was very quiet, comfortable and clean. My husband liked all the beer novelties and decor in the hotel. We enjoyed the room except for an intermittent horrible smell coming out of the shower drain the last two days. We had to close the bathroom door on some occasions so we wouldn't smell it throughout the rest of our room. We brought it to the attention of an employee and she said it's just an ongoing thing at the hotel. Breakfast is provided in the restaurant. They give you a menu and you pick a breakfast from the list. We were able to get a bagged breakfast to go on two mornings since we were leaving early and didnt want to sit for breakfast. The breakfast hours are really long so theres no rush to get down there by a certain time if you're not in a hurry. I was pleasantly surprised they had a couple vegan options on their lunch/dinner menu. The food was average and the service was ok. We really did enjoy our room despite some of the above, as the comfort, quietness and excellent location defintely outweighed everything else. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again."

"This hotel is perfectly placed for those wishing toto take advantage of everything on the Royal Mile. It is ugly outside tho with scaffolding al around. No work is being done however. They could use something more to to on soelevators and the breakfast is expensive. I, however, felt safe and totally happy with my room and the location of the hotel."

"The property was very clean and the rooms were exceptional. We didn't need cleaning everyday, but the bed was always made up and we appreciated that after a long day. Breakfast was amazing! I actually enjoyed the buffet more and Debbie loved the eggs benedict!"

"The property is well located to all major locations including restaurants, shopping, Edinburgh castle, Waverley train station, tram and bus lines, etc. Staff are helpful and the restaurant has awesome views of Edinburgh castle and the park across the street. Breakfast was delicious with a Buffett of a wide selection of items. My one wish is that coffee was better. I highly recommend a stay there."
