Gem in the heart of Edinburgh

Beautiful hotel within easy walking distance of both Old Town and New Town. It is right at the exit of the Waverley Train station with many choices for shopping and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is extremely comfortable with a great staff available to help with any request.

Didn't eat there. Had good tea and coffee in room with a little bottle of milk in the fridge. Wonderful room, excellent shower, bath, toiletries towels and linens. Kelly at the front desk was lovely. I go back and forth from US to Scotland a couple of times a year and will definitely be back to the Balmoral.

The afternoon tea here was the best we had in the UK — elegant, delicious, and unforgettable. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, with thoughtful details everywhere. The front door men did not open the door for me when I arrived from the airport with my luggage. They watched me and stared as if an alien arrived. That tainted everything from that point on. Subsequent attempts to be “nice” were futile. The hotel bills itself as luxury high end and charges accordingly. At such price points, guests expect great treatment.
