"The rooms are quite spacious and indeed it's just a stroll away from everything you'd want to see in Takayama. Also it was one of the few accommodations where apple airplay worked on the TV so bonus points for that."

"This hotel was next level. From the amazing, friendly staff to the Hilton level amenities and standards.
We were greeted in fluent English by super friendly staff to what seemed like a very empty resort. We believe it only seemed empty due to renovations to the second tower. We booked a private onsen for your family at the front desk and went to our beautiful room. The buffet dinner was fantastic and to follow the breakfast buffet was equally amazing. An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back

On a recent family trip to Japan, we stopped in Gifu to see the cormorant fishing (a fascinating and enjoyable experience), and had the good fortune to spend a night at the Juhachiro. It was a fantastic experience. The location was great -- an easy bus ride from the train station, right at the dock where the fishing and spectator boats leave from, in an area of town with a number of interesting traditional shops and restaurants. We had a nice one-night stay here. Bedrooms were much bigger than anticipated and we were able to utilize the washer/dryer which was a plus. Very close to the train station.

Love these properties. They all are the same so you know what you get. The beds are soooo comfy! There is good coffee, tea, and miso soup packet 24 hours a day. It was extremely clean. My only thing I didnt like is they lock the AC at 23 and it was so warm i couldn’t sleep. The next day they unlocked it for me and i slept perfectly. Staff was very polite. Wifi worked well, shower pressure was great. They also have breakfast set deals at a nearby restaurant , but i saw it too late to use it.

If is a charming traditional Japanese inn in Takayama. It’s location is very convenient for walking to the train station and the main tourist area, but it is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was very friendly. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. We were given kimonos to wear. A very authentic experience.

Great hotel with a private sauna in every room. The beds are comfortable and there is a small refrigerator with a freezer in the room. We spent a long day of walking around Gifu Castle and Gifu park, so we enjoyed relaxing in the sauna after. And we went to the hotel's roof top space and looked at the stars. Also, there are 6 free parking spaces but they were full when we went, but directly across the street is a one day/¥400 ($2.50) parking space. Very affordable and convenient.

Miyama Ouan offers an authentic Japanese cultural experience in beautiful high country/alpine location. Meals were of a variety of ingredients, delicious and always beautifully presented. Miyama Ouan rooms are very comfortable, warm, beautifully cleaned, with private and public onsen. The Hirayu location is in close proximity for bush walking, sight seeing, and to the cable car and bear ranch.
