"Lovely stay in a very convenient location. I arrived by plane and took a direct train to Gare du Nord, followed by a short 12 minute walk to the hotel. For my return, it was just a 12 minute walk back to Gare du Nord for the Eurostar, which made the whole journey seamless. "I booked this hotel for one night while visiting friends in Paris, partly for nostalgia, as I used to live near Le Marais. I ended up really enjoying my stay and wish I had stayed longer. The hotel is much larger than it appears from the outside, with a beautiful interior courtyard that feels like a little oasis in the middle of Paris. It was lovely to sit there, have a cocktail, and enjoy the atmosphere. The location is excellent, especially if you want to be close to Le Marais and easily explore the city. The check-in staff were very helpful, friendly, and professional, and spoke excellent English as well as French. My room was a little dated in style, but it was comfortable, spacious for a Paris hotel, well air-conditioned, easy to access, and had great water pressure. The on-site restaurant is nice, though the bar service seemed a bit overwhelmed at times during normal service. If you want a quick drink, the brasserie next door may be easier. That said, this was not a deal-breaker at all. Unfortunately, the hotel experienced a power outage when I returned from exploring the city, just as I was checking out. However, I want to specifically commend the staff and management. They handled a stressful situation with kindness and professionalism, brought out water during the heat wave, helped guests check in and out, and did their best to manage the disruption calmly. Overall, this is a wonderful property with great service, a fantastic location, and a memorable atmosphere"

"Due to my short time in Paris, I prioritized a hotel for ease of transportation, with Gare Du Nord right across the street. This is a nice, quirky hotel. The staff at the desk were very nice. Great air conditioning!!! My room stayed cool at night during a heat wave. It's a nice touch to include the minibar, but mine was never fully stocked/restocked, despite asking. But the water on the first day was very nice. Housekeeping came and refreshed the room daily. I never tried breakfast because I had to leave so early in the mornings, but the dinner was nice. The area around Gare du Nord is interesting and has a lot going on, but the hotel can't help that. With its proximity, you spend little time walking around the area if you go straight from the station to the hotel. Lots of food options around if needed, including those at the station. A major con was that there were three guest elevators, and all of them stopped working while I was there, with no repair sight. Staying on the top floor, I had to carry heavy luggage down a lot of stairs. A staff member saw me on the 2nd-floor stairs and took the rest of the way in a staff elevator, so if I had asked, they probably would have taken the whole way. Would I stay again? For a short visit when proximity to Gare du Nord was needed, yes. For an extended trip, I think that would depend on what you value. I would probably look for a quiet, calm neighborhood. This was a good hotel though. I would recommend it if it fits your desires."

"Pros: This charming historic hotel is in a great location in Marais. There are lots of little bars and restaurants. There is a lovely little bakery and a few small grocery stores that sell fruit, cheese, and wine within a short walking distance. There is a Metro stop right outside the front door. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to store our bags here before check-in and after we checked out. Our room was extremely clean and well-maintained. The mattress was new, and the bed linens were nice quality. This was one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed at in Europe. Cons: We stayed on the top floor (6th floor on the top of the tower with the metal roof) during the late June heatwave, and it was SO HOT in our room. The ceiling-mounted air conditioner struggled to function. The hotel staff were very apologetic and provided two fans. In any other season, this room would be incredibly charming and romantic, but during a heatwave it is like sleeping in an oven. It sounds like most Parisian hotels in historic Haussmann-style buildings have similar issues. The room also does not have a traditional shower, but a small tub with a sprayer. My 6'6" husband found bathing here to be comically challenging."
