"The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They allowed us to check in early and the bellman always greeted us whenever we came and went. We felt comfortable and safe there. The location was absolutely perfect for our purpose which was to go to the Dodger’s games. The Metro $1.75 pp) is a few minutes walk to go to Union Station to catch the free Dodger’s Express shuttle to the game. The shuttle starts 2.5 hrs prior to the game and was so convenient both to and from the game. Take the 1st Street exit when returning on the Metro after the game. We mistakenly took the Temple exit the first night and it took us to a sketchy area and a longer walk to the hotel. Additionally, Grand Central Market is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel where you’ll find a wide array of delicious food and drink options. The rooms were on the smaller side but the layout was thoughtful and creative with lots of storage options. The room had 2 twin beds and small shower stall but it fit our needs perfectly as we are both under 5’3”. They provided shampoo and body wash as well as a mini fridge, microwave, and a hot water kettle with teas and coffee. I would definitely return to Kawada Hotel for our next stay for the Dodger’s game!"

"This hotel has a lot of potential but unfortunately it falls flat due mainly to the service. My boyfriend and I stayed here for his graduation weekend and honestly the hotel caused what should have been a celebratory weekend into a very stressful one. That afternoon we went down to the valet to get our car to head to the first graduation. It did take a bit to get the car but we ended up being 15-20 min late to USC than expected. Not too bad. The next morning OMG this is when it got really bad. We woke up at 6am, got ready and went to breakfast right at 7am…no one was there to seat us. Eventually the chef sat us down. Anyways long story short we ended up not getting our food until 7:45am and had to scarf down our meal to get to USC on time again. The waiter gave us a free granola but other people were also in a rush and had gotten no food yet. I thought it was in poor taste to give us something while others were waiting. We rush to valet, got there at 8:05am but there is no valet there. We ended up sending my BF in an uber. I didn’t get the car until 8:40am. The valet guy was doing car checks so we didn’t see him at the stand until 8:30am. Oh, by the way there was no one at the front desk, nor was anyone answering the phone during this time. I complained and they offered was to remove the $30 resort fee, not the parking. After a long conversation magically they were able to remove the parking. We got back that evening and they didn’t even clean the room. No thanks!"

"Gorgeous lobby. Cool bar/restaurant on roof. Excellent breakfast. Mattress and pillows were GREAT but sitting on a low platform I constantly worried about tripping over and that made getting out of bed challenging. Bathroom decor was nice, but extremely low counter with very limited space for your items. I did not explicitly request maid service so got none "

"Sink has a kinda weird design. Water would bounce out if hands were positioned at an angle. Nice place. Clean, nice staff. Wallet kinda pricey but good service. Close walk to convention center"

"Staff was kind & considerate, while the property was of impressive cleanliness. However, the reason why I am giving it a terrible rating is not because of the hotel, but with Expedia. This platform invalidated the reservation I made, yet had no issue charging my card upon booking the reservation. When I arrived to the hotel upon check in, the staff shared with me that the payment had failed, so Expedia had cancelled the reservation. I was frustrated because I have proof of receipt (my card being charged when I initially booked the reservation), yet they said they did not have it on file, so I had to book a new reservation for that day. Not only was it inconvenient because the cost of stay increased, but also as a frequent customer that enjoys Expedia & often refers the platform to my network, this was especially frustrating to experience. Additionally, I attempted to call customer service (multiple times), and not only was it extremely unhelpful, but the staff I had conversations with were unable to provide any quality assistance & simply gave baseline, generic responses. This has made me reconsider future bookings through a third party platform such as Expedia. While I came across the hotel through the platform, I will now reconsider booking through Expedia & simply book trips through the individual site. "
