"This was exactly what our little family needed. Cozy, clean, comfortable. It came stocked with random toiletries I’m guessing were left by previous guests. (Thanks to whoever bought the aloe lotion by the way). As well as some beach gear, a plethora of towels and a few useful kitchen items. Checked into a hotel on the other side of the island and immediately missed the quiet little house where I could listen to the interesting night wildlife. The house is older by well maintained. "I was super excited to stay at this property. The pluses...the Koy pond. The fish are amazing and love to eat. Also, the sounds at night from nature. Would have been nice to have a lounger in the sun room rather than just chairs. Not many other pluses. We tried to get connected to Internet. The welcome book didn't seem to match the house. The descriptions were off. There were at least 5 remotes but none of them did anything. Only one turned off and on the TV. TV was activated through Roku....

"The house is great. There was an issue which the owners took care of promptly. This place does not have a/c and that is likely my fault. I'm sure I just missed it in the listing. The house wasn't too warm during the day but cooled down and sleeping at night was perfect. It is close to Hilo town. It is close to a general store if you need something and walking distance from a beach that apparently has seals at it frequently. We did not see any this trip. We had the house to ourselves....

"Positives: Close to activities we were interested in (waterfall hikes, lava tube exploring, horseback tour, etc). Well-appointed with furnishings, kitchen appliances, BBQ utensils, and the like. Did not want for such items! Mostly private setting with orchard behind house. Improvements: Bedroom windows did not lock, but were elevated well above ground level. Not sure if bed linens were laundered recently, but laundry on-site. No outside trash bin. Cell service not great in the immediate area,...
