Shikanoshima Island Pet-friendly Vacations

The rooms we had were slightly smaller and the bathrooms were relatively small. I would say if you can go for the more expensive rooms then do it and your stay would be much more enjoyable. The facilities outside that were fantastic - this is a great spot for working travellers. The staff were great and super friendly.

Room was nice and clean, being able to check-in early was a plus. The bathroom is big for Japan hotel standards, was able to full submerge into the bathtub and relax after a long day of walking. The epsom salt packets were a nice bonus!

Spacious and clean rooms in a beautifully designed hotel, perfect for books lover but probably not for international guest who do not read Japanese. Receptionist not as eloquent in English and did not know about any “Expedia VIP access” such as free parking only until we explained. No service beverage for guest like most traditional hotels in Japan, bottled water are only provided to match number of adults and charged at ¥200 each. We travelled as 2 adults and 2 children, only 2 bottles of water provided, better could be done in this aspect.

A low key modern Japanese style hotel with the perfect setup for a longer stay by those who prefer to be self sufficient travelers. The Japanese sized hotel rooms include a large combined washer/dryer unit for which the laundry detergent is provided for. They also come with a small fridge, a microwave, a small kitchen sink and kitchen counter. Additionally, a kitchen kit, consisting of an induction hotplate, a medium sized pot, a knife, a ladle, a cutting board and a scrubbing pad can be obtained from the front desk. Most, if not all, of the department stores adjacent to the hotel have wonderful grocery stores in their basement level, with, as is typical in Japan, everything already beautifully packaged in small sizes appropriate for Japanese small kitchens as well as lots of fully prepared meals. The hotel also offers a breakfast buffet in their ground floor restaurant, which, though with a smaller offering than that at some other hotels, still makes for a fine Japanese style breakfast with a rotating assortment of Japanese breakfast items. Note that for the longer stays, the rooms are made up once weekly, with an included daily towel exchange service. For our culturally immersive travelling style, this hotel perfectly met our needs.

Check-in was contactless, via a tablet, and quite smooth. Room lock is via a passcode so no need to worry about number of room cards. Apartment is quite roomy for our family of three, with a bedroom (with one double and one single bed), plus a larger living room (also with one double bed and one single bed). Even included a 3 person sofa and a small side table. Overall a very nice stay. Highly recommended for family of 3-4 persons. Can accommodate 6 but probably a squeeze.
