Good, quiet low-end resort, away from other resorts. Needs a refresh. Limited menu, has selection of day trips. Small private beach with good snorkeling 50m out at med/high tide. Very limited roads on Redang mean you can only scooter to Turtle Bay (where they hand feed turtles for the tourists). Had a great local bbq squid & tuna over a 44gal drum there.

I understand the negative reviews - the property needs maintenance and upkeep and the bed was like concrete. But, we asked for extra duvets to use as cushioning and staff happy to provide. The toilet continued running after flushing, the shower squirting water (but was hot), and balcony chair nearly collapsed. But, maintenance staff so friendly and happy to fix - all issues fixed in one request. The local staff happy we tried to speak limited Malay, were friendly and smiled a lot. Breakfast not as extensive as other hotels, but enough to feel full each morning. Location is away from Long Beach, so I very quiet. If you want buzz, stay at Long Beach. We wanted relaxation and have peaceful quietness, so we were happy. The pool was dirty and brown due to an issue with Government Water provided to resort. However, staff kept trying to empty & refill each day - pool swimmable by third day! If you correctly set your expectations, you will be okay. It’s not a 5 star resort. If you have any issues, just ask staff a friendly question and they will do their best to accommodate. Wana at reception was excellent! Great English speaking and found us a reasonable priced transfer (RM150pp) to Perhentian Island for our next stay saving much time. Needs a bit of work, but a reasonable stay for price.

Overall was good...If u choose to enjoy night life here, this is not the right place. Need to go to long beach to enjoy night life. But if u want comfort and just want to enjoy a calm and relaxing your mind, this would be the right place.

A long weekend getaway
Good sea view resort, room was well-lit with plenty of lights and clean. Food was sufficient and quality was adequate for breakfast and dinner. We tried order food from the kitchen though it took a while for the staff to pick up and delivered to our room. We thought we would be starving from check-out back to the mainland, but thankfully the staff had prepared our breakfast to takeaway at the reception. Overall, we're enjoyed our stay.

車我們出去，忘記了接回我們，訂了船票回來，又沒有交帶邊間船公司時間！房間又不潔，令我全身敏感，又漏水，換房就無水無冷氣再換才可以！太差啦

The staff was really friendly! So so nice to be around them. But the place was really not maintain, the pool had frogs swimming in it.. so I didn’t manage to swim. I had a severe bed bugs bites all over my body.. it was covered with bed bugs I also notice that the room was very dirty and very dusty in all corners. Also explains why there are bed bugs. The rooms were so dimly lit too. Had to go back to the mainland to treat my bed bugs bites at my back because it was very bad :( Also we tried calling room service or the reception for 3 days every time there was no answer. It was very difficult to get a hold of them. The breakfast was nice! But the other meals like dinner/lunch was just cold and abit bland. But other than that the staff always took us to amazing places like the beach, activities and did their best to make us feel the ultimate experience of the island. Pity the cleanliness and the bed bugs situation was just so bad.

The bed was hard as a rock! And at night, there were ANTS constantly crawling on the bed! The restaurant was clean, but the menu was very much lacking, and the food not particularly good taste wise. The breakfast was a Continental type BUT no pastries at all! And ordering breakfast you only had the choice of American Breakfast(eggs, chicken sausage, grilled tomatoes, and beans) OR Malay Breakfast which was Nasi Lemak. NOTHING else to choose from! There were NO activities, no bar, NOTHING in the evening! The TV only got 5 channels, and the movie channel was very blurry! And their beach was pretty non existent, maybe 8'x12'! What they DID have, you had to climb down some VERY steep stairs with no railing! They WOULD take you to the Public Beach area for free, and to the jetty to catch your ferry back to the mainland. Too isolated......

Air conditional is not functioning well, as the water is dripping. Bed and pillow is kinda dirty. There’s a weird smell came out from the wardrobe. The entire resort is so big, but there’s only 1 shuttle van or bus available. The food provided from the cafe is tasteless and variety is not much. Such a disappointment.

Hotel is located near the village, nothing you can do around the hotel. The private beach is small and dirty. The room furniture really need to change and maintenance. The swiming pool is dirty even they did done the cleaning but the timing of the cleaning is during people want to swim. The light around the hotel is not enough.

Nice and peacefully
I and my wife enjoy the seaview from our room. With a peaceful surrounding, we can relax our mind here. The staff is very kind. The hotel driver can pickup you from room anytime you called. Only the 1st night, we have trouble to get our dinner. Another night, we call the nearest restaurant to pickup and its free charges. Just a reminder..be placed at jetty before 3pm (because its last boat/trip from jetty merang/syahbandar to redang island). Actually we get to redang island not by a package and its expensive when you have to pay the boat at cost RM400 when you are late. But overall, its a nice experience.

Not very convenient to reach the hotel beach
You must clamp up and down the hill to reach the hotel beach- it's very small and facing the jetty. The bed sheet is not clean with blood dots on it even we leave the tips for cleaning everyday. The breakfast is just so so and you need to walk more than 15 minutes to outside for food or something else. It's quiet in the night and the view is nice because I took the ocean view room. Overall, I won't be back that hotel again!

Cannot be called 'resort hotel'. Swimming pool is durty with lots of incects on it and no water circulation, no one is swimming. No hair dryer no internet no hand towels in the room. Only 2 shuttle bus to the beach per day. Only one restaurant with few menu choices.

Return to Paradise
The Redang Island Resort is a wonderful, low key very friendly place to stay. The staff all speak English well and are genuinely concerned with the comfort of guests. The pool is long enough for laps and just the right temperature. The rooms are close enough to the jungle that we saw incredible insects and a big lizard as well as a flying squirrel and monkeys. There are well run snorkeling trips. The restaurant is OK but you can get very good Thai and Malay food with a ten minute walk.

Just average hotel.
The hotel is quite okay with friendly and helpful hotel staff. However the hotel is located up the hill far from the beaches and a little isolated from other resorts, activity places and attractions. We need to spend an extra cost to pay for a boat service to stroll along the beaches that located about 20 minutes from the hotel by boat. The hotel is suitable for relaxing and lying by the poolside. The surrounding is very peaceful and quiet.

Ideal quiet getaway
This resort is opposite the ferry terminal. It is not close to the main tourist resort area of Long Beach & is therefore very quiet. There are no alternative places to eat so if you plan to stay more than 3 nights as I did you might get bored with the menu. For a quiet relaxing break this is an ideal place. The only problem is that because the rooms are located about 150 metres from the main building, you have to trek up or down a slope in the hot sun. The staff also use motorbikes to & fro & the sound of small motors, especially at night shatters the solitude

Isolated Hotel in an isolated Island
Hotel itself is terribly dirty the food is very bad with limited selection, you get only one big towel which is dirty and no internet access in the cabins as they claim they have and even in the lobby you stay for ages to get to a website. the island itself is not much populated only three shops in the area and 400 houses for the locals, no restaurants no transportation facilities to see around. it means you have to stay in the cabin and its surrounding which is very a beautiful nature. So If you really want to relax and isolate yourself from the rest of the world and do snorkeling only then go to this island but choose another facility the public beach is far away and you need to take a boat to go there which I did not do I left the facility the next day I arrived despite my booking was for 4 days

Out of the way hotel - is the old Berjaya
This hotel is not on the main long beach. You need to wait for 4 people to be able to get a boat to take you to long beach so we basically never got there. You are pretty much stuck and there isn't really a nice beach at this hotel. Everything is quite run down. Redang has become very local too. There are hardly any foreign tourists so the food is also pretty local. Since there is virtually no beach, you need to take up some of the hotel's activities like snorkeling etc. The coral even away from the island is very dead. Not too sure what's happened to them; whether it was some catastrophic event or climate change. But the waters are still nice and clear. The marine park trip was completely disappointing. The coral and marine life has been decimated. I would recommend the snorkeling trip instead. The ferry to get there was complete chaos. Try to buy your ticket in advance and on the day you need to get a plastic card at the ticket counter when you flash your ticket RM50/way. This card is your boarding pass. You won't be let onto the boat without it. Also, you need to buy a marine park ticket RM5/person.

The room are good and in a quite location. The hotel is very isolated and getting to long beach was not easy as they did not run a shuttle boat unless you paid a large fee unless there where at least 4 guests then the price dropped. Don't eat in the restaurant the food is really is not good at all. Go to the tarras hotel instead a short ride away.

No beach nearby!
I wouldn't stay here again, there was no beach! I assumed that on an island like Redang that there would be one in walking distance but there isn't. Also no restaurants nearby other than the hotel.
