COVID-19 may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't deterred our lust for exploring. Here are some tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Before locking in your flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to lower it briefly for ID purposes. Those who refuse to wear a mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, you should position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll have to remove it for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pockets, like your wallet, phone and small change, and place them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• If you want to take food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
