「We understand that some places are outdated and a little run down from time and use but this was beyond that. The room was not cleaned throughly, there was a phone but it did not work. the cord for the hair drier hanging on the wall was caked in dust from never being wiped off. The light switches also caked with gunk, a puddle of pee on the base of the toilet and some gunk that came out of the jets when we turned on the jacuzzi. The Landry room has a huge hole in the ceiling, towels on the floor...

「The place has a great price value ratio, the staff at the reception could be friendlier but the not-too-welcoming communication style was similar across Mackinaw City so it might not be the hotel’s fault. The place has excellent location, right at the port to Mackinac Island, free parking and buffet breakfast. Overall, I recommend it.」

「The room was spacious and had a nice view of the lake. I couldn't get a good night's sleep because it was so loud. Not that there were loud people, but because the building is so old and poorly insulated that you can hear everything happening in other rooms like it's in your room.」

We stayed at the budget inn and they make it very clear through the booking and on the lobby door of the budget inn that you checkin/out at the Thunderbird Inn next door.
