"Disappointed the outdoor pool was closed this was not made aware to us at the time of booking, sent 3 messages to the hotel via chat service never recieved a reply.
On arrival I discussed this with the lady on reception who did not seem bothered just said it's on the website that the pool is closed,
Nice oldy worldy hotel rooms nice size and comfortable.
Understaffed at breakfast the poor lady greeting us was lovely but rushed off her feet.
Not the top class hotel it used to be , we have stayed a couple of times there now ."
"Once we got to the hotel (road closed so couldn't use the hotel carpark so a bit of a nightmare!) we found the staff very helpful, our room was lovely, very spacious and clean.
The only negative were the pillows, it would have been nice to have a choice of different 'plumpness'! We found them a bit too hard so didn't have the best sleep"
"The hotel breakfast and spa was first class, we booked through expedia for a week and got a great price. The standard room view was terrible. Room 21 is to be avoided the view out of both windows was horrible. The laundry on one side and the fire escape on the other. I wonder if the hotel gives expedia the worst room? The hotel should tell you what to expect!!"
"We stayed at Harbour Hotel in Padstow and ate in the restaurant two nights during our stay. Then the same for Harbour Hotel in Salcombe. if you’re looking for a food experience then Padstow wins hands down. I would rate the food in Salcombe as good but Padstow is another level or two up; perhaps it’s the Rick Stein effect………"
"Room was clean, we did have to report a couple of things but was sorted straightaway, balcony was ok but disappointing that you have to climb through window to access it, plenty of room and handy tea and coffee facilities.
The hotel has a beautiful layout with lots of different seating areas, even a little library, to sit and relax anytime of the day, and beautiful sea views.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
The outside pool is nice and plenty of loungers available.
The spa is down stairs and was a nice little treat, staff really nice.
Would recommend a stay here , it is located at the top of Torquay with beautiful views of the bay and a five minute walk into the start of the town with regular bus services which is outside the hotel. Breakfast is lovely choice of continental and full English.
Just a few negatives: a damp smell on the third floor was quite unpleasant and could occasionally smell in room, a little daily tidy of the pool area, a little tlc inside would freshen the hotel up, parking could be awkward but right next to train station, so parking ok and the main entrance signage does let the appearance down.not all lifts were working and occasionally signs up to say not working, and when on the 3rd floor with only one lift working to that floor, was disappointing, but they did actually work, so unsure why the signs were put up,
All in all a lovely pleasant stay and would recommend"
"How this place still runs as a hotel I do not know
from the moment we got out the car the urine stench was unbearable, all corners of the car park were filled with rubbish.
Inside was horrendous carpet not been hoovered or cleaned in 20 years mattress springs coming through, dust dirt and stains on every surface wall skirting board. Mould in bathroom, used needles outside out window (roof view)
We left faster than we checked in
Couldn’t pay me to stay there avoid at all cost
The photos online are defiantly not of this hotel.
The staff were like volunteers who just didn’t want to be there no help at all"
"Our room 214 was boiling hot. could not open windows. no air conditioning. two nights of pure heat! the staff said they understood but could do nothing! it ruined our short break. WFH"
