As basic as you can get in London, hence the low price. Good points: (1) I arrived 30 minutes after the midnight check-in limit but coud still check in, (2) staff kindly let me leave some bags there, free of charge for 3 days while i traveled.
I live in Miami & decided to extend my stay in London by 1 more day but didn’t want anything too expensive so booked 1 night here. It was,for the price, really good value.I booked a double with shared bathroom but the members of staff, with the owner’s approval over the mobile ,upgraded me to an en-suite room with no extra charge. The room, number 11 was clean, warm & wi-fi was working well.
I was happy & will stay again in future.

The staff was lovely, the room could have been a little better. I had a lovely big window but my room didn’t have a power outlet to charge anything so I had to charge my phone in the hallway. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner but overall, it was a good room for a one night stay:)
Room 1
Requires a little finishing off with decor.
For some reason the mattress was a little smaller then the bed.
Couldn't find the TV remote!
The one staff member helped as much as possible even going out and brought a kettle.
I booked one night at the Golden Star. I already knew Victoria was a great area, and since I was on a budget, their price—cheaper than anywhere else—was a big factor. To be honest, I was a little nervous after seeing a few negative reviews, but I couldn’t have been happier with my stay.
The staff were polite and helpful, and I even had a nice chat with the owner, who gave me excellent recommendations for places to eat, drink and go out. He’s lived in central London all his life and knows it extremely well.
I stayed in Room 5 on the second floor. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, towels and soap were provided, and the free Wi-Fi worked well. The shared bathroom was right next to my room, so it felt almost like having a private one.
Overall, the hotel offered a great price in a great location, and I’ll definitely be staying there again! Very happy to have stayed
Despite the overall low ratings this hotel has received, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and helpful lady who handled the keys. I had to go to a different building to pick them up, which was a bit unexpected, but she made the process quick and smooth.
The room was quite basic. The bed was freshly made and the large flat screen TV worked well with a streaming service included, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired—it felt a bit run-down and not very well maintained. The shared bathroom was very small and cramped.
That said, I personally found it fine for my stay, since I spent most of my time out exploring London. The location was a big plus, with great access to public transport and connections around the city.
If you're mainly looking for a place to sleep and don’t mind a more worn environment, this place could work—especially on a budget.

Disliked: Amenities
The room, staff and the bathroom itself is awful 😢
The room was so dirty. There was pee on the toilet seat and bugs in the shower and it looked like the sheets had not been changed for a while. I could not stay in this hotel. I ended up leaving to find alternative accommodation.
The room was not as described and the doors were not secure.. The room was smelling terribly and felt like it was not cleaned. Very unsatisfied and left as soon as I checked in
I was booking big room with bathrooms but staff say sorry I was waiting you but you come late and we give your room someone and I m never ever see like dirty horrible. I don’t believe local council not checking this property
This property is very poor. The rooms; decor and facilities are bad. The toilet and shower facilities were terrible. Staff were nowhere to be seen. I think I was as the only person staying at this property as I didn't see anybody else the 3 days I was there. Do not stay at this place!
Disgusting don't even think of booking. I had to go to ahouse to pay, no card machine had to be bank transfer.
Room was disgusting, door damaged and kicked in. Overpowering smell of damp and mould everywhere in room. I could not stay here, items ripped off of wall, earring on side table.
Expedia were useless and offered 10% refund...as hotel would not answer them.
There was not check in availability
No room available but booking and charging accepted.
Check in time 12 in night they didn’t open door and refused to give rooom because not available and money not refunded
I came 11 pm in the hotel which I sent them an email saying I will be late. It turns out that they are fully booked . Imagined I traveled 5 hours from wales plus I have a visitor from Australia . It gave me a headache as I don’t know where to go. The guy offered me a used room and wait for an hour just to clean it. It turns out dirty and bad smell . I need a refund at least for this trouble ! I think this app Expedia or even the hotel itself got the problem. It’s not acceptable !
Please, in my opinion, the pictures at the Expedia app, it's completely different.
UK inspection passed through,at the time of my vacation, and they're answering for your service.
We stayed in this hotel for one night, didn’t know one night could go so wrong! Upon first arriving as this was a budget hotel we didn’t have high expectations, the check in online says between Noon-1, wrong. We were turned away until 3pm. When we got into the room the taps wouldn’t turn off fully, if you need to sit down on the toilet you best hope you’re not over 5ft unless your knees scrape the wall. And for the big finale. OUR ROOM FLOODED. The water woke us up at 6am, pouring through the lightbulb on the ceiling and through the cracks in the walls, when we phoned for assistance, the owner SENT ANOTHER CUSTOMER to deal with the situation and at first they was going to make us just leave the room (AT 6AM) until we begged for another room just to sleep in until check out at noon. Our belongings were soaked, it was a dangerous situation as the water was literally pouring through the electricals and 6am in winter we had to use phone flashlights to see if we’d even gathered our wet clothes. Upon returning home we applied for a refund, due to lack of sleep and soggy belongings. AND THEY REFUSED. AVOID!!!
Horrible to not be rude, I’ve never seen something like this before, dirty and poor condition, never been cleaned. I don’t know how hotels.com accepted property’s like this. Very sad.
