"Rooms were very clean and newly renovated. Grounds were well kept and just how we remembered from 19 years ago. The beach is only about 50 yards from the sand bottom pool, waking up to awesome sunrises. The only bummer was the lobby was closed for renovation during our stay. We were excited to see it but it was all closed. The reception area was relocated to a small meeting room near the gift shop/concierge. We had fond memories of the lobby during our honeymoon from so many years before and were hoping to see it again. Navigating to your room is a little tricky since there is no central point to start from (old lobby). You figure it out eventually. Other than this, I would surely stay here again. We chose outrigger for its location on Kauai which is just north of Lihue airport. It is a great launching point as it is midway between Princeville and Waimea Canyon/Poipu if your plan is to visit the entire island. It is the reason we chose Outrigger 2 decades before and the reason we chose it again. We hope to visit again one day, hopefully the lobby will be completed! "

"Room was ready early for us, friendly staff, we appreciated the microfiber towels for us to use, and to have them readily available to trade out when ours were wet! "

"Very nice hotel. Everything is great except the restaurant and bar hours don’t go late (close at 9pm) and the rooms were pretty muggy. My clothing felt damp even with the AC on and doors closed. Would recommend bringing some laundry moisture absorbing sacks. Valet parking was super easy and convenient. "

"Definitely not a 4 star resort. First we were charged an amenity fee which they explained covered having a washer and dryer in the condo, a pool, and first come first served parking. Gave 3 stars because the manager did round up other amenities listed in the listing (blender, dish drain, bowls, glasses, etc) and because of the inconvenience she refunded half the amenities fee. The condo itself was old and in need of upgrades. Sofa was old and worn with cushion zippers broken in the open position. The chairs in the dining area were old and flimsy feeling. Felt as if the legs were ready to break. We were told we didn’t need to wash the towels but the staff, with exception of the manager, acted as though we were inconveniencing them when we asked to exchange dirty for clean. I would recommend paying a little more for better facilities. "

"Glad we stayed at Royal Sonesta for a week. My family had a great time. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were clean and we spent a lot of time in water. The kalpaki beach access is a great convenience. The food at kukui restaurant was great. The staff were very helpful and the concierge helped me plan out my week to my requirements. The walkway in between the beach and Sonesta provided for some scenic evening walks. The location is ideal. It's close to the airport and many other attractions are within 30 mins drive. Highly recommend this resort. "

"It was fine, room was clean, bed was tiny, very spartan, if you need somewhere to stay for a night it's ok, but don't expect anything remotely luxurious. We didn't get the breakfast, parking was available and free."
